"Crown Of Thorns" as written by Andrew Wood, Stone C. Gossard, Jeffrey Allen Ament, Greg A. Gilmore and Bruce Ian Fairweather....
You ever heard the story
Of Mr. Faded Glory?
Say, 'He who rides the pony must someday fall...'

Talking to my Alter
Said, 'Life is what you make it
And if you make it, death will rest your soul away... away... away'
Yeah, child.

It's a broken kinda feelin'.
She'd have to tie me to the ceiling.
A bad moon's a-comin'
Better say your prayers, child.
I want to tell you that I love you.
But does it really matter?
I just can't stand to see you draggin' down again... again...
My baby, again... Oh yes.

So I'm singing
This is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's unkind and leaves me alone, yes it does.

This is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's unkind and leaves me alone.

I used to treat you like a lady.
Now you're a substitute teacher.
This bottle's not a pretty, not a pretty sight.

I owe the man some money
So I'm turnin' over, honey.
Say Mr. Faded Glory is-a-once again a-doin' time, oh yeah.

And this is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's unkind and leaves me alone, yes it does, ah.
This is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's unkind and, it's unkind and
It LEAVE ME ALONE, YEAH!

Like a crown of thorns.
It's all who you know.
So don't burn your bridges, woman,
'Cause someday, yeah...

Kick it....
This is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's unkind and leaves me alone.
And this is my kind of love.
It's the kind that moves on.
It's the kind that leaves me.

Baby... I said a come on, come on, come on, come on, do it.
I said baby...
Don't burn you bridges, woman...
I'm gonna come back to you...

General CommentThis is a beautiful song. It's so well-done. To me, I've always interpreted this song as being the story of a man who has broken up with somebody he really loved, but is trying to move on. (hence: "This is my kinda love/It's the kind that moves on/It's the kind that leaves me alone"). The line "don't burn your bridges woman", implies he's not fully over her.. but he understands. He wants her to realize he'll still be there for her, kind of thing.

General CommentI think this song is about Andy's use of heroin:

This is my kinda love It's the kind that moves on
It's unkind and leaves me alone
    Yes it does

Andy was Mr. Faded Glory and he rode his pony all way to his early grave.

General Commentfigures, considering that MLB is basically PJ with a different lead singer. They're both some of the greatest bands of all time.

General Commentyeah just take MLB, get rid of Andy (rest his sole) and the drummer, and add in Mike McCready, Ed Vedder, and Jack Irons, then take away Jack Irons, add 3 more drummers, (all at separate times) take the 3 away, and then add Matt Cameron. then you have Pearl Jam

General CommentMother Love Bone and Pearl Jam have basically the same structure. I like Eddie's voice better, but Andrew's style was certainly much more appealing. Much uniqueness in it.

General CommentThey are very different vocalist, andrew wood more a glam rock song singer. Vedder is very different, he's is more a grunge style singer if you ask me.

General CommentI Agree MLB wasn't completely grunge, they were more like Aerosmith with grunge-like music. They still rock none-the-less

General CommentI think this song is about a lost love that he said goodbye to because of his lifestyle. Basicly he's saying he can't be with a woman for long because he screws up everytime and breaks up. The line " so don't burn your bridges woman" means the heroin possibility is out the door. I think that lines is him saying "don't settle down with me in your mind and let go other people over me, since i won't be around for long." Beautiful song by the way, i do prefer the PJ version.
