I want pleasure in your sight
I want to subcribe to your delight

So hold on and see what I do for you
Oh by the way, did you see me dressed in my beautiful robe?
My head was bleeding so red
But of all the thorns in my crown,
The roses blended instead
with my beautiful robe carries on,
I'll carry on

I cut down a tree
Said, "Man would you look at me"
I stuck my head in a thorn bush
Man I was deceived

Oh my brother, your hands are full of sores
But God bless you brother, my nails are longer then yours
I was crucified with Christ but how come I am not dead?
God gave me a cross but I made my own instead
My beautiful cross carries on, I'll carry on

I cut down a tree
I nailed myself to the wood
I screamed in agony
'Cause the glory wasn't so good

I fell to my knees and
I remember the words of God pierced so hard,
"Your righteousness is like filthy rags" and
I fell to my knees and said, "God, my filthy robe!"

General Comment"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast."

General Comment"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." Isaiah 64:6

This song, from Skillet's first album, contains some of their most Biblical lyrics. We may think we're good, but even our best deeds are filthy in God's holy eyes. Only by believing in Jesus' death on the cross and being saved by grace through faith can we attain glory.

I wish Skillet would quit writing the watered down lyrics they're putting out now and write more like they used to.
