(Scat)

Hear my voice where you are!
Take a train, steal a car
Hop a freight, grab a star
Come back to me!

Catch a plane, catch a breeze
On your hand, on your knees
Swim or fly, only please
Come back to me!

On a mule, in a jet
With your hair in a net in a tow'l ringing wet
I don't care, this is where you should be
From the hills, from the shore
Ride the wind to my door

Turn highways to dust
Break the law if you must
Move the world only just come back to me!
Come back to me, come back to me!

(Scat)

What on Earth must I do
Scream and yell til I'm blue
Curse your soul!
When will you come back to me?

Have you gone to the moon,
Or the corner saloon and to rack and to roon?
Mademoiselle, where on Earth can you be?

Woah!
In a crate! In a trunk!
On a horse! On a drunk!
In a Rolls or a van
Wrapped up in mink or Saran
Woah! Any way that you can

Come back to me
Come back to me
Come back to me
Come back to me

Well
Bring it on back
Bring it on back
Bring it on back

Come back to me
Come on back
Come back!

This song is lyrically probably my favorite by Midtown (well actually I can't say that. How about the entire Save the World, Lose the Girl album is my favorite??)

To me its another song about a long distance realtionship. The words they use are just incredible. Amongst my favorite lines are...

"Will you still be waiting? That's something i can't ask you to be"

"I'm waiting for and when you leave it all and you finally fall i'll be coming down with you i'm waiting for you something is wrong but i just can't put my finger on it"

"Come on you could have any other boy to take my place and hold when you're feeling all alone"

Basically the guy who wrote this song is in love with a girl but he can't be with here. He is extremely understanding of the fact that long distant relationships are tough but he's committed to her, but unfortunately for him the girl isn't as committed and it basically breaks his heart ("how can you say that i'm supposed to stay when you talk on to me that way oh come on now i cant see what i'm supposed to be but if you trust me it might turn out ok" and "it hurts when you talk that way")

Its such a great song. The way all 3 sing it at the end is probably my favorite moment in the history of rock n roll. There's just so much emotion and talent. I wish I could see them perform it live...

Its the perfect example of how guys get screwed by girls. This guy is dedicated despite realizing that the girl isn't thinking about him. He ends it saying "I know you've haven't been there for me, but soon I will be back and I'll be there for you and it will all be good because I have stayed true"

oops! I just read through the lyrics again and I guess I missed this line...

"When I forgot to call you knew it all it was coming down on you

will you still be waiting? That's something i can't ask you to be"

So obviously the guy isn't as innocent as I made him out to be in the above analysis. I guess I just wanted to blame it all on girls... guess you can tell how I feel about them right now :)

this in my opinion is the best midtown song. The part when they're like "you could have any other boy" is Godsent.

I agree 100%. That line is so powerful... I think every guy has felt it and it just eats you up inside. That line is the climax of not only the song, but the entire CD.

I used to think "Knew it All Along" was the best song on this CD (I can say the same thign about No Place and Such a Person... its an amazing CD :))then I read the lyrics as I listened to "Come on" and realized how powerful it is.

This song just means a lot to me right now and I can't write enough praise for it. STW, LTG is in my favorite CD ever and like I said earlier, this song is the perfect climax for it. Its just so awesome. (Its progressed a long way too! Have you heard the orginal version?)

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing

This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
