"Summerland" as written by Art Alexakis, Craig Montoya and Greg Eklund....
Let's just drive your car
We could drive all day
Let's just get the hell away from here

For I am sick again
Just plain sick to death
Of the sound of my own voice
We could leave behind
Another wasted year
Just get some cheap red wine

And just go flying
We could do the things
All the things you wanted to
No one cares about us anyway
I think I lost my smile
I think you lost yours too
We have lost the power to make each other laugh

Let's just leave this place
And go to Summerland
Just a name on the map
Sounds like heaven to me

We could find a town,
Be just how we want to be
No one here really cares about us anyway
We could find a place,
Make it what we want it to be
No one really gives a fuck about us anyway
We could live
Live just like we want to live
No one here really cares about us anyway
We could be

Everything we want to be
We could get lost in the Fall
Glimmer Sparkle and Fade
The Sparkle and Fade
Fall Glimmer Sparkle and Fade

Forget about our jobs at the record store
Forget about all the losers that we know
Forget about all the memories that keep you down
Forget about them

We could lose them in the
Sparkle and Fade
We could leave them behind
In the Sparkle and Fade
Yeah Sparkle and Fade
Fall Glimmer Sparkle and Fade

General CommentI think this song kind of takes after "Hand in Glove" by The Smiths in its meaning. I see it as a couple who does whatever they want, despite what the outside world thinks. However dangerous the path may be, they are still together and in their own little twisted world of love.

General Commentto me everclear, sparkle and fade this song being summerland are the most amazing things. the words how they flow together and just so perfect....:::I think I lost my smile I think you lost yours to we have lost the power to make each other laugh::: are just so great and means so much to me with this clarity thats so perfect.

General Commentthis is my favorite song..i knwo its not the best song in the world but its my favorite...this song always gave me hope...like someday it was telling me i would find my summerland...the one place where everything was prefect...the one place where you're able to smile and be happy again...

General Commentthis song is so emotional,so much truth to it...the story to it is this, there is a town called summerland in california i think, that art has passed on the highway and seen on maps, and though it's right there,he's never been there, story i read on him where i don't know. but still a great song

General Commentthis song uses the the town summerland california to symbolize our insignificance in life. summerland was a town that art once drove through and he compares the insignificance of this little town to how little of an impact we make as we live our short lives. rather philosophical

General Commentaicguy22, i read the same thing many years ago. summerland is like most any goal - it is attainable. all you have to do is take that exit. but something in your life is always keeping you from it. you've got somewhere to be, and you always pass it by. i've wanted to just drive by that sign ever since i read what he said about the song. however, i live about 1,000 miles away. :(

General CommentAs with a lot of their songs there is this theme of 'you and me against the world'. The idea that you don't fit in the the world and life in general but it doesn't matter because you have each other. I just find this some incredibly romantic.
