Some boys kiss me
Some boys hug me
I think they're ok
If they don't give me proper credit
I just walk away

They can beg and they can plead
But they can't see the light (that's right)
'Cause the boy with the cold hard cash
Is always Mister Right

'Cause we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl

Some boys romance
Some boys slow dance
That's all right with me
If they can't raise my interest then I
Have to let them be

Some boys try and some boys lie but
I don't let them play (no way)
Only boys who save their pennies
Make my rainy day

'Cause we're living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl
Living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl

Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material world
Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material world

Boys may come and boys may go
And that's all right you see
Experience has made me rich
And now they're after me

'Cause everybody's living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl
Living in a material world
And I am a material girl
You know that we are living in a material world
And I am a material girl

A material, a material, a material, a material world

Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material world
Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material world

Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material world
Living in a material world (material)
Living in a material

This song still remains EXTREMELY relevant today. So many people want so much superficial stuff. "A new cellphone, a fourth car, a ton of money." All of us are guily of wasting our money when it should go to charities and environmental causes.

I think at a time she was, because she admits it. lol She basically describes the shallow way of using boys for power, money and the like. And face it, we've all had our moments where we want to be freakin' material girls.

Adam Sandler's character quotes this song in the movie The Wedding Singer when he's talking to his love in the movie about how he can't measure up because he isn't rich, basically.

There's always two ways of looking at things and our perception is our reality. Sounds like M was maybe a spoiled brat and use to getting what she wanted. She endured a lot probably more than most will ever. However, she was probably pampered and lived mostly a charmed life. You see M is a hard worker and puts a hundred percent into whatever she does but she's also a queen and expected to be treated as such. Again she likes production and gets very bord if she's not but wants to do things on her terms. She is a trophy and the prize is being with her. If she wants to get a massage she will. If she doesn't feel like cooking she'll get carry out. If she wants to go on vacation she will and doesn't like being controlled. She's a free spirit. Get the point. She's use to being taken care of and although she's been self reliant and independent she prefers security. So anyone who wants a shot with her would have to know these things. Also, maybe it never occurred to her that she too wanted what she can't have because she's use to getting her way. And if she doesn't it can literally drive her to insanity. Nah well maybe a little bit both. She's knows what she felt was really love and not anything that resembled it.

Yes, Lady Madonna loves to have it both ways-to have a sense of Rebel Heart humor and to have a keen fashion sense on how to live Her Detroit Life. Madonna is the Material Girl because she has a voice of experience. All of us-the Rock Crowd-loves Madonna because she is a brilliant artist! She is in a word-brilliant!

I don't make the rules. Sitting on her thrown, getting a full body massage by multiple worshipers, getting entertained by a jester. Being fed green grapes and sipping red wine. A line full of possible

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
