"Rain" as written by and Madonna Shep Pettibone....
I feel it
It's coming
Rain

Feel it on my finger tips, hear it on my window pane
Your love's coming down like
Rain
Wash away my sorrow, take away my pain
Your love's coming down like
Rain

When your lips are burning mine
And you take the time to tell me how you feel
When you listen to my words
And I know you've heard, I know it's real
Rain is what this thunder brings
For the first time I can hear my heart sing
Call me a fool but I know I'm not
I'm gonna stand out here on the mountain top
Till I feel your

Rain
Feel it on my finger tips, hear it on my window pane
Your love's coming down like
Rain
Wash away my sorrow, take away my pain
Your love's coming down like
Rain

When you looked into my eyes, and you said goodbye
Could you see my tears
When I turned the other way
Did you hear me say
I'd wait for all the dark clouds bursting in a perfect sky
You promised me when you said goodbye
That you'd return when the storm was done
And now I'll wait for the light, I'll wait for the sun
Till I feel your

Rain
Feel it on my finger tips, hear it on my window pane
Your love's coming down like
Rain
Wash away my sorrow, take away my pain
Your love's coming down like

Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say never go away

Waiting is the hardest thing
I tell myself that if I believe in you
In the dream of you
With all my heart and all my soul
That by sheer force of will
I will raise you from the ground
And without a sound you'll appear
And surrender to me
To love

Rain is what the thunder brings
For the first time I can hear my heart sing
Call me a fool but I know I'm not
I'm gonna stand out here on the mountain top
Till I feel your

Rain
I feel it
It's coming
Your love's coming down like
Rain

I feel it
It's coming
Your love's coming down like
Rain

Feel it on my finger tips, hear it on my window pane
Your love's coming down like
Rain
Wash away my sorrow, take away my pain
Your love's coming down like
Rain

I feel it
It's coming
Your love's coming down like
Rain

I feel it
It's coming
Your love's coming down like
Rain

I'll stand out on the mountain top
Until I hear you call
My name

Rain

General CommentI go back and forth as whether to be able to call this my "favorite" Madonna track simply because it's so hard for me to choose. However, this is def in my top 3. The melody and harmonies are gorgeous. Probably her best vocal ever. The instrumentation is so smooth and calming and then it sort of explodes in the middle only to wind back down again at the end, just like a storm. I've probably listened to this song at least or twice a week for the past 10 years. And don't even get me started on the video.

General CommentIt's like when you end a relationship and you feel hopeless. But then, even if you are not searching for anything someone make you forget the past, maybe it's not love but that just give you the energy to trust in people again. And it's like the rain is falling in your body, taking away the sufferance and bringing changes in your life.

MemoryRain is one of Lady M's best!-Madonna wrote Rain because she will never forget her mother's memory-on one level, Rain is sad but Rain is a beautiful Rock ballad of Hope-Hope is Madonna's Middle Name. The seeds of Ray of Light, Confessions on a Dance Floor and MDNA are planted in Rain. As Madonna drives through Michigan in her Mustang Cobra-Henry Ford's masterpiece-from Detroit to Mount Arvon Upper Peninsula-like her friend Bob Seger in Biker Anthem Roll Me Away-in brilliant Rock ballad Rain, Madonna feels vibrant, free and alive. She Washes Away Her Sorrow because Her Love is Coming Down like the Detroit Rain. Finally, the sun comes out and breaks through the clouds of Madonna's at-times sad past. Lady Ciccone looks forward to A Better Future with Lola and Rocco. Madonna truly thanks her fans for love and support and she truly appreciates her life. With the slogan tattoo No Fear on her back, Madonna is truly grateful and thankful she's alive thanks to a beautiful song called Rain. The Lady from Michigan's storied rock history of grit, noise and revolution definitely is Love in Song. Madonna is Her Name. The Rain washes away her sorrow and takes away her pain because there is Love in Madonna's Heart. And that is a lesson in Rock

MemoryRain-one of Lady M's best! Rain is a lovely Rock Ballad and beautiful Torch Song. Lady Madonna wrote, sang and cried Rain-she will never forget the beautiful memory of her mother. Rain is Sad. However, Rain is a beautiful Ciccone ballad of Love and Hope-Hope is Madonna's middle name. The seeds of Ray of Light, Confessions on a Dance Floor and MDNA are planted in Rain. As Madonna drives through Michigan in her Mustang Cobra-Henry Ford's Masterpiece-from Detroit to Mount Arvon-in brilliant Heartland Rock ballad Rain, Madonna feels vibrant, free and alive. Soon the clouds of her at-times sad past disappear and the sun breaks through for Madge. Madonna Washes Away Her Sorrow and Takes Away Her Pain because she's looking forward to a better future with her four brilliant and artful students. Her Love Comes Down Like the Detroit Rain. In Rain, Madonna truly thanks her fans for love and support-she's thankful and grateful to be alive because of the Rain. The Lady is Love in Song. Madonna is Her Name thanks to a beautiful song about the Rain. And that is a Ciccone Lesson in Rock That Can Never be bought. Amen, Madonna
