"Last Exit" as written by and Eddie Vedder David Abbruzzese....
Lives opened and trashed..."Look ma, watch me crash..."
No time to question...why'd nothing last...
Grasp and hold on...hold tight and fast...
Soon be over...and I will relent...
Let the ocean swell dissolve 'way my past
Three days and maybe longer won't even know I've left
Under your tongue...I'm like a tab...
I will give you what...you're not supposed to have...
Under my breath...I swear by sin...
For better or for worse...a best we began...
Let the sun climb, oh, burn away my mask
Three days, and maybe longer, shed my skin at last...shed...shed...
Let the sun shine, burn away my mask
Three days, and maybe longer, won't ever find me here
Let the ocean dissolve away my past
Four days, and not much longer...
Let my spirit pass...
Ooh...
This is, this is...(3x)
My...last exit

General Commentthe only reason this song isnt about kurts suicide is because he was murdered, so it couldnt be about his suicide because it never happened

General CommentThis album's pretty grim, but I think he means music. A great song to listen to if you're waiting for something..

General CommentPerhaps this song is about moving forward and not living in the past anymore and not dwelling on memories that you cannot change.

General CommentI think its about dying. "Shed my skin at last" "let my spirit pass" I suppose its his way dealing with death.

General CommentI can't believe that no one has made the connection between this song and Kurt Cobain. Think about it, Kurt was dead for THREE DAYS before his body was discovered. Now I know that this song was written before He died but don't you think it is possible he changed some of the lyrics after Kurt killed himself? Seriously think about it, the whole song seems to represent confusion and stress, Kurt was obviously a very confused and stressed out person. This is held up through out the song, reaching a pitch at the very end where everything quickly ends at Eddie almost whispering the words "Last Exit". This song burns out so quickly, it has the abrupt end that seems to be almost as sudden as suicide.

    Any thoughts?
