"The Gift" as written by Michael Hutchence and Jonathan James Farriss....
Oh so fine
We were trying
Out of nowhere
Just in time
Let you take me
Deep down the river
Kiss the changes
That shape my life
Left behind
All the tracks that
I could find
Do do do do do
All these scars are mine

I was thinking got the feeling
The gift you gave
Is gonna last forever

All the lies you find
All the truth you see
Rise and fall
But I know what's mine

Here we lie
Looking up to
Empty sky
And the promises we find
I'm not the first one
To ask why

I was thinking
Got the feeling
The gift you gave
Is gonna last forever

General CommentThis song is one of my all-time favourites. With lines like, "Kiss the changes that shape my life," it's incredibly positive and defiant.
For me (no insider knowledge here) the song offers support to overcome adversity. Accepting pain and hurt and turning them into strength and character: "All these scars are mine", "The gift you gave is gonna last forever".

General CommentStill one of the best INXS songs, and it's big and Kick like.
Shame they went a bit too Rock Pop instead of this sort of stuff.
