American girls, and american guys
We'll always stand up and salute
We'll always recognize
When we see old glory flyin'
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head.

My daddy served in the Army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
'Til the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother,
My sister and me to grow up
And live happy in the land of the free

Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A sucker punch came flyin'
From somewhere in the back
As soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man we lit up your world
Like the fourth of July.

And Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist
And the Eagle will fly, and it's gonna to be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell
And it'll feel like the whole wide world's raining down on you.
Brought to you courtesy of the red, white, and blue.

Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with
The US of A
Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way.

Oh, of the red, white, and blue
Oh, of my red, white, and blue

General CommentThis song disgusts me. I can't even begin to describe how much. In fact, so does everybody who's proud of this song and the sentiments it expresses. Thank God country music still has the Dixie Chicks.

General CommentAfter looking at the comments on here, I am disgusted to be considered an American. The people who write these kinds of lyrics or support these kinds of songs truly should not be allowed to speak. I cannot believe how ignorant people can be. The Dixie Chicks are so much better than Toby Keith.

Also, does anyone else find it to be at all interesting that the majority of the most intelligent people in the world are atheists? Because I do..

General Commentyou're kidding right? so because the government, pushed the native americans off of their land, when the government allowed slavery, you're saying that I should support it no matter what? My god, you people are incredible. Let me correct you, a TRUE american has thier OWN opinions about topics and votes respectively. If everyone supported the government in every decision that they made, then what the hell is the point of having different parties? We should just have one then, right? If theres no view to oppose then why have a second? i dont come here to stir shit up, i come here for intelligent coversation. thats the point of boards like these, discussion.

General CommentAbsolutey! Ismael dust... those freedoms of speech you are expressing are, yes, your right. But I'm loving the hypocrisy you're portraying. If one doesn't agree with your view they should be
"dragged into the street and shot." I am so glad that here in America we don't have those pretentious individuals who are so threatened by a different opinion they want to harm others for having alternate beliefs. Not like overseas. Oops. Wait. My mistake.
I guess there are still a few people who need to grow up and allow others the same freedoms that they themselves appreciate. Having a different opinion or not agreeing with something as controversial as war does NOT make someone a traitor. It means that they are expressing themselves as you yourself are. It really is not a hard concept to grasp.

    Grow up.

General CommentJesus Christ. You know what, I actually find the American patriotism obsession far scarier than any Islamic fundamentalist belief. This song is a THREAT to those who don't wish to conform to the American "apple-pie" ideal and lifestyle. Supporting a belief is all well and good, but to do so blindly, ignorantly and disrespectfully is what alienates everyone.

This song is RACIST, in that it preaches American superiority - our guns are bigger than yours, are live's are happier, are ideals are more modern. I'm proud that in Europe, this idealism doesn't show it's ugly face since the fall of monarchical society. Sure, 9/11 was a tragedy, but did it warant the action taken? That's your decision, but to decide without a shred of proof to your argument, to blindly follow your nation's superiors and opinions, to promote the consensus without asking questions first, is not something to be proud of - it's backward, primitive and childish.
