Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
So it's over now, finally
I'm beneath,
And I'm crawling out, on my knees
I can hear what you said
Echoing in my head, and I'm losing myself
Now I'm cold on the floor
And I don't care anymore, 'cause it's over
It's over
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
I can feel, I can feel
I can finally feel
So I guess it's over now
And you broke me down somehow
Now I'm faultering
I can see
I can can be,
I can be that
Shut you out
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
So I'm leaving now, somehow
Underneath
As I slowly drown, finally
I can hear what you said
Echoing in my head, and I'm losing myself
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
I can feel, I can feel
I can finally feel
So I guess it's over now
And you broke me down somehow
Now I'm faultering
I can see
I can can be,
I can be that
Shut you out
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
I'm shaking deep inside
I'm having trouble breathing
I need somewhere to hide
Away 'cause I am healing
I'm having trouble breathing
Tommorrow I am healing
So I guess it's over now
And you broke me down somehow
Now I'm faultering
I can see
I can can be,
I can be that
Shut you out
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
I'm beneath,
And I'm crawling out, on my knees
I can hear what you said
Echoing in my head, and I'm losing myself
Now I'm cold on the floor
And I don't care anymore, 'cause it's over
It's over
I can feel, I can feel
Like it's real, Like it's real
I can feel, I can feel
I can finally feel
So I guess it's over now
And you broke me down somehow
Now I'm faultering
I can see
I can can be,

Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
just like all of trrustcompany's songs, this is an awsome song!
This seems to be right after a relationship is over. This person needs to recover before he is going to go on. Buy the only way this person can heal is to be alone on this--to be away from that person he loved.
I just went through this so I see this song as both a good thing and a bad. Like he is saying that finally its over, and he's sad because he's losing the person he loves. But also, he is saying finally its over because the end was inevitable and he saw it coming. So he's at the stage where he can start going through the pain of recovery.
ok i love this song .. its about him being in a relationship where she had control .. her thoughts were his he had none of his own emotion anymore .. and now after the relationship is over .. he can feel for his own .. n hes amazed by it
Pretty self-explanitory song. Its about getting over a relationship. I love TRUSTcompanys songs, their lyrics are amazing. This is defintley my favorute. The breakdown in this song amazes me I'm shaking deep inside I'm having trouble breathing I need somewhere to hide Away 'cause I am healing I'm having trouble breathing Tommorrow I am healing Man, I love this song.
a lot of his songs are about his broken marriage right?
trustcompany is awesome their lyrics are amazing and it goes in so well with the music.
I think this song is about when you like someone but he/she is someone that you can never have (for any reason) and it comes to a point when you give up fighting and decide to keep him/her just as a memory of an imposible love and remembering every word makes it harder to forget (I can hear what you said Echoing in my head, and I'm losing myself) and the breakdown is when you try to start again and heal the wounds inside ... pretty tragic but amazing and beautiful song.
just saw these guys tonite. kevin said this song was dedicated to anyone "that's ever been screwed over."
bad breakup
