So here we go
Having the same old fight again
Though there she goes
Same old game that never ends
If I could say all the right words
I know I could make you stay
If I could say all the right words
Things would work out all right

And then if you go
I won't believe
That it's forever

And then you can go
But I'll never leave
'Cause it's not over, oh

Replay last night
Talking it out don't make it right
I know she's tried
But my whole world is her
And all we've got now

And then if you go
I won't believe
That it's forever

And I won't let go
Even if she says that it's over
I know it'll be different this time
If you'd just stay

And when we wrote this story
How did it end?
It was you and me for all our lives
Come on, don't say it
We'll try again
And if I'd just hold you
We could last

But she stands softly
Tears down her face
Hitting me, oh god
This is the end
I'd wait here for you
But there's nothing more now I can do
How did you know
How did you know
How did you know
Finally

There are few breakup songs that arn't annoying, and this is one of them. Anyone who has ever endured a breakup in which they tried so hard just to make it work but it still ended up falling apart would understand this song. I love the beautiful description and paradigm shift at the end of the song, "But she stands softly Tears down her face Hitting me, oh god This is the end I'd wait here for you But there's nothing more now I can do How did you know?" Very powerful.

"And when we wrote this story How did it end?"

6months-1year into a relationship u start to think of the future (house, marriage, kids etc...) Then when u break up you realise you've lost alot more than a partner.

One of the best Offspring tracks, they're quite an eclectic group really, with this is one of their more ballady songs.

this is for dropjack13 the song is called Denial, Revisited because he's in denial that its over. when he says how did u know hes realised that its over and hes asking her how she knew it was over when he thort it was still good. when he says 'Finally' this is him saying iv finally realised it too. This is just my opinion, does any1 agree?

Also, this is my all time favourite song and has been since i first herd it back wen it came out. i was 10 years old. now im almost 17 and still is as good as it was the first time i herd it.

And when we wrote this story How did it end? It was you and me for all our lives Come on, don't say it We'll try again And if I'd just hold you We could last

i agree with linoge. i had a break up like this, and it hurt a lot. i listened to this song, and it was kinda depressing. i wanted so bad to say the right things, and i thought things would go back to the way they were, but they never did. i would have given anything to hold her one last time. im over her, but in a way, i will never forget her, and i will always be there to give it another shot, if she is willing...

I'm not a huge fan of the Offspring's newer stuff, but this song is good.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
