You

You
Are still a whisper on my lips
A feeling at my fingertips
That's pulling at my skin
You
Leave me when I'm at my worst
A feeling as if I've been cursed
Bitter cold within

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Without you
Without you

You
Are still a whisper on my lips
A feeling at my fingertips
That's pulling at my skin
You
Leave me when I'm at my worst
A feeling as if I've been cursed
Bitter cold within

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you
Without you

Days go by and still I think of you
Days when I couldn't live my life without you

All lyrics and just things in life can be looked at 2 ways- simple and complex... As some of you said, Yes, the meaning is simple if you listen to the lyrics, but the video may make the meaning a bit more complex. Some of you are asking questions like, "Why did she leave him" or "Did she leave him because he danced? And if she did why would he dance to try and bring her back?" Here is your answer:

She didn't leave him because he danced she left him because he was obsessed.Listen to the song.He is lamenting the loss of a woman that still moves him years later and all he had to do to keep her was cut back on the dancing. He COULDN"T do it.So how does he show his deep sorrow for losing the woman he loved to his dancing? In the only way he can fully remember and reminisce her in a case of nostalgia...He DANCES!!!!That is obsession defined.

The video wasnt merely to point out HIS mistakes or HIS particular obsessions... but the little crazy obsessions in all of us, that cause us to depart and take on other paths in life— like mother and daughter, husband and wife, sister and brother, friend and friend, boyfriend and girlfriend, we all either WILL depart one day or MUST depart one day in out lives, hell it could even be inanimate things such as departing from ideas or ventures, etc… Its all about life and the tough choices and things that come with it. These “departures” a lot of times cause regrets or sorrow as in the case with this man and his woman. He wasn’t WRONG for being obsessed with dancing and She wasn’t WRONG for leaving him.... Just a strain of different interests- thus they departed… which is really what life all is about, but unfortunately in Human Affairs feelings get caught up in it too… this it what makes the man dance to this day But in either path he chose—whether to stop dancing or depart from his woman he STILL would have had REGRET! The man symbolically baptizes himself in this “regret ritual” by first realizing his obsession that caused his regret and then EMBRACING it, instead of ignoring it like he did when he had his woman.

Our obsessions are as much a part of us as our minds, body, etc. and the only way we can truly be free (like this man dancing) is to accept them... Although it was misfortunate in the end, not many people are as lucky as this man to have their obsession clearly revealed before them, so in a way from his loss he actually gains another greater piece and whole of himself. The whole point of his ritual…

I have to say I love both versions, this one and the acoustic one as well, the latter being obviously more expressive and appears to be so much closer to us. But this one was the one I heard first, back in 2002 and it would just take me to a journey and make me remember of my first true love's days, so full of joy in my life. That awful feeling that you were the one who let go and gave up so fast, not realizing that you might regret it in the future. You find yourself over the years (for me it's been 5 years and a half now) still thinking of "what if I had tried stronger", days go by and you have to accept that it is a wound, a pain that will remain there and be with you forever.

This was such a great song. I guess thats all they could really come up with. The guy who wrote it said it was like all of his relationships...

This is like an awesome song, damn eclipse commercial nearly killing it ... I hate the girl in the eclipse commercial, WHAT THE HELL IS SHE DOING TRYING TO RAVE OR SOMETHING? she sucks, they should've gotten a real dancer and not someone who just looked good. The video rocks.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
