You in my arms as we walk to my car
Your voice warms my heart, your eyes like stars
We huddle in closer as a cool breeze goes by
I can feel your heartbeat next to mine

Your head in my chest, guarding you from the wind
Your hand digs deeper into my skin
But I promise I won’t let go of you
I will always be here next to you

We pass over a bridge and look around
We glance at the stars and stay Close
I pull you in tighter to keep you warm
I would never let anything do you harm

So we stand here on this wooden place
All we can do is look to the stars
Holding each other not leaving space
Now the ending the walk to my car

I open your door, help you in
Our night is over, when will it happen again?
This question digs through me, like a knife
Cutting my emotions into pieces
I just wish for one more hour

I take you home, stop at your house
But I don’t want it to end, don’t get out
I get to your door, say my goodnight
Give you a kiss and let out a sigh
Why do the best things always end?

So I stand with myself
Missing everything about you
Telling out story to a thousand def ears
But no one listens to my request

Walking back to my car
I start to remember
All those little things I miss about you
The way you bite your lip, laugh and smile
It all felt so perfect to me

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
