"Cancion Del Mariachi" as written by and Cesar Rosas....
Soy un hombre muy honrado
(I'm a man with much honor)

Que me gusta lo mejor
(That enjoys the very best)

A mujeres no me faltan
(I have no need of women)

Ni al dinero, ni el amor
(Nor money, nor love)

... en mi caballo
(Riding on my horse)

Por la sierra yo me voy
(Through the mountain range I go)

Las estrellas y la luna
(The stars and the moon)

Ellas me dicen donde voy
(They tell me where I'm going)

Ay, ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay mi amor
(Ay . . . my love)

Ay mi Morena, de mi corazon
(Ay, my Morena, who I have deep in my heart)

Me gusta tocar guitarra
(I like to play the guitar)

Me gusta cantar El Son
(I like to sing "The Son")

Mariachi me acompana
(The mariachi accompany me)

Quando canto my cancion
(When I sing my song)

Me gustan tomar mis copas
(I like to drink my small glasses)

Agua ardiente es lo mejor
(Fire water is the best)

Tambien la tequilla blanca
(Also white tequila)

con su sal - le da sabor
(with its salt - it gives it flavor)

Ay, ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay mi amor
Ay mi morena, de mi corazon

Me gusta tocar guitarra
Me gusta cantar el sol
Mariachi me acompana
Quando canto my cancion

Me gustan tomar mis copas
Agua ardiente es lo mejor
Tambien la tequilla blanca
Con su sal le da sabor

Ay, ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay mi amor
Ay mi morena, de mi corazon

Ay, ay, ay, ay
Ay, ay mi amor
Ay mi morena, de mi corazon

General Commenttranslated by yours truly. If your asking yourself why the hell does antonio banderas have a song attributed to his name? well the answer is that Mr. Banderas wrote this song for the Robert Rodriguez movie "Desperado" maybe you've heard of it? anyway Antonio played a carachter that was a mariachi (a traveling mexican musician) and with the help of Los Lobos, this suprisingly very good song was produced. I suggest you donwload it, even without a knowledge of spanish, the song is gr8 to listien to. I'm not sure if its on the soundtrack so the best thing to do would be to download it. And see the movie while ur at it its great as well. its part of a three part series along with "El Mariachi" Robert Rodriguez's first movie, being the first part, and the upcoming movie, "Once upon a time in Mexico" being the third part. Starring Antonio Banderas, Johnny Depp, Selma Hayek, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, and so on.

I thought that meant "I lack no woman"? So it would be, "I lack no woman, money or love"?

Just doesn't make sense if he says that he doesn't need any love when the rest of the song is pretty much a love song to Morena? Or is the "Morena", i.e. the brunette, the horse? And he sings that he doesn't need love, money or love but just a horse and the plains so-to-speak?

    TranslationI am honored man
and i like the best of life
    i don't lack in women
    money or love

    Mounted on my horse
i ride through the mountain side
    the stars and the moon
    they will be my guide

    oh oh my love
    oh my brunette
    beautiful love

    i love playing my guitar
    i love singing "The Son"
my band is always with me
every time this song is sung

I like to take my drinks strong
    and brandy is the best
    as well as white tequilla
with your salt takes off the edge
