"Sandalwood" as written by and Lisa Loeb....
She can't tell me that all of the love songs have been written,
'Cause she's never been in love with you before.

Your skin smells lovely like sandalwood.
Your hair falls soft like animals.
I'm tryin' to keep cool, but everyone here likes you.

I want to kiss the back of your neck,
The top of your spine where your hair hits, and gnaw on your fingertips and fall asleep,
I'll talk you to sleep.

But I'll be the one, I will have chosen.

I'm tryin' to keep cool, but everyone here likes you, I'm not the only one.

Your skin smells lovely like sandalwood.
You hair falls soft like animals,
And nothing else matters to me.

She can't tell me that all of the love songs have been written,
'Cause she's never been in love with you before.

Your hand,
So hot,
Burns a hole in
My hand.
I wanted to show you.

General Commenti really think this is the prettiest love song ever written. you don't even have to be in love to feel exactly what she is saying. i love this song!

General CommentThis song is my absolute favorite of hers... especially the line "I want to kiss the back of your neck... the top of your spine where your hair hits... and gnaw on your fingertips and fall asleep... I'll talk you to sleep." It's just beautiful. No need to explain it. It's just right.

"It's a love song. I'm basically singing and playing guitar. We recorded this in one continuous take."

General CommentSadly can't stop listening to this, even though it's sentimental. But I really do want to kiss the back of his neck.
"She can't tell me that all of the love songs have been written, /'cause she's never been in love with you before.." This line is for me.

General CommentAh, no, I don't think it's "about a girl in love with another guy but hes got a gf and she wants to tell him she loves him but she can't".

Rather, it's just about a girl who's in love with a guy.

[She can't tell me that all of the love songs have been written, 'cause she's never been in love with you before.] The 'she' here refers to a random singer/lyricist/person. The song is saying that this random 'she' cannot say all that because 'she' has never felt how it feels to be in love with THIS guy.

[I'm trying to keep cool, but everyone here likes you
I'm not the only one.] This line, I think, talks about this singer introducing the guy she loves to her friends, and she's relieved that everyone, not only she, likes him.

[I want to kiss the back of your neck,
the top of your spine where your hair hits,
and gnaw on your fingertips and fall asleep,
    I'll talk you to sleep.]

But yes, I love the details in this song!
