the holidays
brother laughs
grandma's cooking
mom and dad

it used to be
so carefree
now we've become
divided family

and now it's christmas
gather round the tree
something's missing
is it only me

the stockings hung
but i don't care
there seems to be
an empty chair

the food looks great
but i can't eat
it bothers me
i think i'll cry

where can a young boy hide
it seems so very far away
the tree must come down
but must the house fall too
i wish that i had realized i could run to you

and now it's christmas
gather round the tree
something's missing
is it only me

is it really christmas
because i don't believe
i've surely found no answer
chasing misery

General CommentAuthor's comments (aaron wiederspahn, I believe): Romans 5:3-8-- Divorce runs rampant in this country and thousands of kids are hurt by this daily. My encouragement is to trust that even when our earthly family fails us and there seems to be nowhere to turn, our Heavenly Father remains the same and truly gives us a hope. And that hope does not disappoint us.
