"Fingertips" as written by and Emiliana/baldursson Torrini....
Before I can open
My all to eager eyes
Everything changes
From the oceans to the skies
Perpetual emotion
Sadder place by me
Everything's breathing
My air in all of tree

Yet my fingertips
Have a special sound
Yet my fingertips
They go round and round

This comical wisdom
Creeps into my brain
A wave of my nerve
And also free of pain

Yet my fingertips
Have a special sound
Yet my fingertips
They go round and round

Pa-pa-pa-ra-raaa-a
Pa-pa-pa-ra-raaa-a

Electrical current
Hallowed be thy name
Live my emotions
And vanish all my shame

Yet my fingertips
Have a special sound
Yet my fingertips
Smell of sodden ground

Before I can open
My all to eager eyes
(all to eager eyes)

Everything changes
From the oceans to the skies
(oceans to the skies)

Yet my fingertips
Have a special sound
Yet my fingertips
They go round and round

Pa-pa-pa-ra-raaa-a
Pa-pa-pa-ra-raaa-a

General CommentI'm sure it's about female masturbation before sex. Her fingertips go "round and round" in a "perpetual motion" and she feels all sorts of nice stuff, including an "electrical current". The process "lifts her emotions" and "banishes her shame", "before she can open her all to eager eyes". I think it's quite self-explanatory...

General CommentJew Christ, are there any interpretations of anything on songmeanings that aren't sex, drugs, or depression?

I personally think the references to her fingertips are about making making music (they have a 'special sound'). But I have no idea what the rest could be...it seems like a big metaphor for something...beautiful imagery nonetheless.

Great. Now every time I read the lyrics, I'll think of masturbation. Whatever. It fits, I guess.

General CommentI always thought it was "nerve ends", not "nerve and".. "all the trees"

but I love this song. I think it's just about how complex + beautiful the world is. evidently some (a lot?) of us are in the gutter but try to look at the stars, people ;p

General Commentoh, and the "round and round" could be referring to her fingerprints, the swirling patterns, each of them unique.

General Comment On the surface it would SEEM she is singing about masturbation but I don't think that is the case whatsoever. She is singing about the Universal Laws... I am talking Quantum Physics & Metaphysics here.... Everything that exists is Vibrational Energy and that everything is connected to the same source energy which is Infinite Love and Consciousness. Everything is infinite love on the highest vibration of its being, and that emotions of Guilt, Shame, Fear, ect take us away from what we all really are...... All these metaphors totally are in line with this. Even look at the very name of the album: "Love in the Time of Science".... Yet another reference..... Then if you listen to the song this is connected to on the album directly, it is about Telepathy. Another Metaphysical topic. Believe me... Emiliana is too deep to produce a song of this calibre about the mere act of masturbation.
