I'm mixing up a bunch of magic stuff
A magic mushroom cloud of care
A potion that will rock the boat will rock
Make a bomb of love and blow it up

I did it
Do you think I've gone too far
I did it
Guilty as charged
I did it
It was me right or wrong
I did it Yeah

I never did a single thing that did a single thing to
Change the ugly ways of the world
I didn't know it felt so right inside
I didn't know at all
Open up the curtains I heard sirens there the lights flash and crawl
I did it justice I just did it for us all

It's a nickel or a dime for what I've done
The truth is that I don't really care
For such a lovely crime I'll do the time
You better lock me up I'll do it again

I did it
Do you think I've gone too far
I did it
Guilty as charged
I did it
It was me right or wrong
I did it
Yeah

I never did a single thing that did a single thing to
Change the ugly ways of the world
I didn't know it felt so right inside
I didn't know at all
Open up the curtains I heard sirens there the lights flash and crawl
I did it justice I just did it for the buzz

All you people are the skewers of our dreams
Like the cat that collared me
Oh what I gotta say to you got love don't
Turn it down
Turn it loud
Let it build
We got a long way to go
But you gotta start somewhere
Go door to door spread the love you got
You got the love
You get what you want
Does it matter where you get it from
I for one
Don't turn my cheek for anyone
Unturn your cheek to give your love
Love to grow

I did it
Do you think I've gone too far
I did it
Guilty as charged
I did it

Was me right or wrong
I did it
Yeah
I did it
I told you I told you I told you I told
I did it
Guilty as charged
I did it
I told you I told you I told you I
I did it
Yeah

I never did a single thing that did a single thing to
Change the ugly ways of the world
I didn't know it felt so right inside
I didn't know at all
Open up the curtain I heard sirens there the lights flash and crawl
I did it justice I just did it for us all

the breakdown: "I'm mixing up a bunch of magic stuff A magic mushroom cloud of care A potion that will rock the boat will rock Make a bomb of love and blow it up" -he's talking about the music they are creating and the love and care they put into it. when everyone hears their music it will explode like a bomb and rock the world.

"I did it Do you think I've gone too far I did it Guilty as charged I did it It was me right or wrong I did it Yeah --he's admitting that they had to become big to make their musci heard and make money along the way, but its up to you to decide whether he went too far to the point of selling out

"I never did a single thing that did a single thing to Change the ugly ways of the world I didn't know it felt so right inside I didn't know it at all Open up the curtains I heard sirens there the lights flash and crawl I did it justice I just did it for the buzz " --he never did anything to change the world, and through their music they are able to achieve this on some level. the sirens and lights are people accusing him of selling out. he is saying he did it for THE buzz, not A buzz. by the buzz he means the way people talk and spread the message of their music.

"It's a nickel or a dime for what I've done The truth is that I don't really care For such a lovely crime I'll do the time You better lock me up I'll do it again " --the money that he made along the way isnt really important to him and if it takes his "selling out" to get their music heard, he would do it again in a heartbeat.

"Oh what I gotta say to you got love don't Turn it down Turn it loud Let it build We got a long way to go But you gotta start somewhere Go door to door spread the love you got You got the love You get what you want Does it matter where you get it from" --he's once again talking about the spread of their music and the message that it sends. there is alot of love in their music, so spread it around and let it be heard, it doesnt matter where or why it is coming, just spread it for what it is worth.

well, thats my opinion, i honestly dont see the drug references, although it wouldnt surprise me in his lyrics to find them/

"Nickel and dime for what I did...I'll do the time" means 15 years in jail.

I think it's about doing anything you feel passionate about, no matter what the outside world might think or say or do to you because of it.

I think this song is entirely about drugs.

I agree, totally about drug use, and the reasons why he/they did it.

boy you read that somewhere... cause i can agree with on that, but there are stong drug reffernces in this song... hmmm dime and nickel.... a bag no doubt... hmmm think about man... but i do agree with you except for the fact that dave still play the acoustic and not every song on Everyday was electric... and not every song coming out on Busted Stuff will be electric... but we will have to wait and see.

this song is dave matthews talking about his music in general and his so-called "sellling out." He didn't do it for the money he did it for the sake of music. He had tp make a positive contribution towards what music is today.

Ok, here's my two cents: I think Dave is trying to spread love around and make people get addicted to it like a drug. Instead of selling/using drugs or what not...try love instead...and then spread it to others. That's why there are so many referrences to drugs. I think he's using drugs and love as a metaphor.

I agree with vdub18, totally about him talking about selling out and how if all these so called hard core fans have a problem with him making alot of money they can go shove themselves because he's always going to have fans, but I also think that He's tlaking to the members in the band about how the bands name is Dave Matthews and not something like Aerosmith where the lead man is the lead man. But he's also saying that even though it's the way it is, he did for them all, so they have rich a luxorous life, and the video really reall shows this so you can take the drug thoughts and shove 'em because the video is the perfect story of him just defending himself against the band and the sucky people that suck.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Page

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
