This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
It’s happening again
Underneath my skin
I think you better check my pulse and get me a doctor
I’m hardly pulling through
I’m looking up at you
Lighting up the room the way you do
Come and get me
You make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
And it doesn’t seem stop
The knowledge that you drop
You always say it like it is and I think that’s hot
I can’t keep up with you
Maybe I should go back to school
I think I’ve been outsmarted
I think that I'm retarded for you
‘Cos you make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
Yeah you make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
You make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
And everyday we go together
make our garden
growing up, growing old
I only need your hand to hold
you're everything that's special to me
early spring, new words to sing
and old R.E.M.
You make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
You make me smile (you make me smile)
You make me laugh (you make me laugh)
You give me the warmest heart attack
Underneath my skin
I think you better check my pulse and get me a doctor
I’m hardly pulling through
I’m looking up at you
Lighting up the room the way you do
Come and get me
You make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
And it doesn’t seem stop
The knowledge that you drop
You always say it like it is and I think that’s hot
I can’t keep up with you
Maybe I should go back to school
I think I’ve been outsmarted
I think that I'm retarded for you
‘Cos you make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
Yeah you make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
You make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
And everyday we go together
make our garden
growing up, growing old
I only need your hand to hold
you're everything that's special to me
early spring, new words to sing
and old R.E.M.
You make me smile
You make me laugh
You give me the warmest heart attack
You make me smile (you make me smile)
You make me laugh (you make me laugh)
You give me the warmest heart attack

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
I know these bootlegged song’s length can fluctuate a bit, but if you listen to the song from 1:16 – 1:20 and then from 2:04 – 2:21, I would like to know what you guys think Mr. Jeff Caudill is saying. I can’t decipher it.
doesn't he say "i think that i'm retarded for you?" and then the other part, all's i can get out of it is "make our garden growin up, growin old" hah, i know it may not be right and it may sound a little corny, but that's what i got. the other lyric is just still a mystery to me.
Loan your hand for me to hold everything is....somethign I cant quite figure out
Tactility, no, but some sort of sub-epidermal fantasy. Things that you can't touch, nothing is out of reach, everything is possible... something's lurking beneath the skin, something rushes through, never to surface in one's concious thought.
I have the CD with the lyrics right in it so here you go: "I think that I'm retarded for you...." and then: "Every day we go together make our garden growing up, growing old I only need your hand to hold you're everything that's special to me early spring, new words to sing and old R.E.M."
Hope that helps!
old R.E.M!! It all makes perfect sense now...never in the world would i have come even CLOSE to guessing that! Thanks dude! That was a HUGE help!
I think this song is a sort of 'part "2" to the (also great) song my star from the album before this. i think a lot of the songs on this album can be considered to be a pt 2. Hey radio (1) and always on, robots and june and a couple more I can't think of right now... But it's a greatr band, and highly underrated to my opinion
I said june, but I meant "the only chance we get"...sorry
