"Lethe" as written by Mikael Bengt Stanne, Anders Jivarp, Niklas Bo Sundin, Martin Henriksson and Fredrik Johansson....
Give me the drink of the fluid
That disintegrates
And lend me the sweet balm and blessing
Of forgetfulness, empty and strong
Oh, lethe

Hold me near, unravel the stars
As I speed through the heavens
Speed through the night
For you are my blade and my rope
You are my lethe
You are my all

In currents of cobalt
You storm through my heart
To sever, to puncture
The memories that burn
Let sweep through the arteries
In sharp stabs of pain
Your talon-like fingers to kill me again

Steal me, invade me and charge me again
For I burn and I shudder
Burn with each movement of

So, cleansed through a floodlight
I appear, renewed and reforged
Caressed by the sweet balm and blessing
Of forgetfulness, empty and strong

Hold me near, my one friend and guide
As I drown through your fingers
Drown through your love
For you are the life I hate
You are my

Drag me down, in passionate sighs
With the ocean above me
And flames in my eyes
And grant me a life I can live
Take me away

From the life that I hate

General CommentI'm speechless... this song is indescribable. My favorite Dark Tranquillity song ever.. and Dark Tranquillity is one of my favorite bands ever. I recently saw them live with In Flames (my all time favorite band. You MUST check them out if you haven't yet), and I was simply blown away. Anyway, without rambling too much more I'll just say, once again, that the lyrics to this song are simply amazing.

P.S. Lethe is a river in Hades (Greek mythology) that the dead would drink from to forget all of their hardships in life. It also means to forget or lose memories.

    General CommentClassic Dark Tranquility.
The meaning is pretty obvious, death, time and forgetfulness: The one friend and guide that can bring an end to all regrets.

    General CommentYou said it, Prodigy...

I've yet to find a song that can match the beauty and desperate frustration found in this mournful dirge.

True raw emotions, shit bands like LP will never be able to touch the beauty of DT.

General CommentI also see it as a reference to alcoholism.
He's drinking from the "water" of forgetfulness...

I heard this was about alcohol too and those lines seem to back up that theory. My favorite song in the world this, never thought Melodic Death Metal could be beautiful but this proved me wrong

General CommentThis song really kicks ass; alcohol grants a live that can be lived...
Does anyone have a clue what "currents of cobalt" means?
