You cannot hide
Your pedigree
Don't call me cynical.
I can't provide
A guarantee
Don't call me cynical.

Time and time again
I'm finding a better defense
The crime I charge against
Reminds me to check your intent

I won't retreat
I will not bend
Don't call me criminal.
Inform defeat
If I offend
Don't call me criminal.

Time and time again
I'm finding a better defense
The crime I charge against
Reminds me to check your intent

You never get something without sacrifice
You never get something for nothing
So name your price

Time and time again
I'm finding a better defense
The crime I charge against
Reminds me to check your intent

Time and time again
Time and time again

General CommentI identify with this song alot so I know EXACTLY what it's about. When he interacts with people they always shut him down and treat him poorly so all the time he has to "find a better defense." Basically he's saying that he isn't trying to offend people and he is sick of being called cynical and a criminal. He turns it around on them saying "you can't hide your pedigree" and "reminds me to check your intent." For all extents and purposes this is actually a "diss" song.
