To me it sounds like he's talking about dealing with the fame of being in a band. The first four lines are a just about how he's in the public eye by being in the band with everyone judging his music and his image. The "shakin hands/ shakin in their shoes" reminds me of record execs making deals and marketing Modest Mouse's music and being nervous that it will bring a profit. "Laugh hard... to the bank" and the last few lines are all about how he signed with a major label to make money and he's basically mocking other peoples reactions to it. "Its been a long time since you've been around" refers to all the "friends" you have come out of the woodwork once you make it big and the part about not being a fool for people he doesn't know is saying that he's not going to be a fool and turn down the money from a major label because he's afraid of some small minded "indie" kid that he doesn't know calling him a sell out on some message board.
I'm not quite sure about the "half of everyone else" and "showering/ world stinking" part. |

I think alot of stuff on Amnesiac pertains to ancient civilizations/ancient myths. The song is called Pyramid Song (Egyptian) and many of you think the river he refers to is the river Styx (actually, the river that the dead cross in the underworld is called Acheron, but either way, its still Greek mythology). The cover shows what could be a crying Minotaur in front of some constellations (again, Greek myth), and inside the cover book, it refers to the fall of the Roman empire, which is also mentioned in the song "You and Whose Army?". What all this means, I have no idea. |

I read an article online taken from a magazine where the readers sent in their takes on radiohead songs and thom read the letters and responded to the best one. He said he likes his songs to have multiple meanings and the relationship angle is one of them. He also said that the "light coming on" and "no future left at all" parts were talking about dying. He used to think there was no afterlife and nothing he did in his lifetime mattered but now thats all different. His life has meaning now, so he can be happy and enjoy the good times because he can look back on those times after his mortal life has ended. |

This is a very powerful song about the death of young children. Raine is mad at God for allowing infants to die. He says God is stealing babies, and he argues that they're not even old enough to apologize for their sins or even to know that thier alive, they die before they're ever even alive. Eve is just an example of one young person dying. |

The whole song is a metaphor for humans being like machines that can be repaired. The whole album "spiritual machines" deals with a lot of human VS. machine themes. The video for this song is pretty incredible too if you get a chance to check it out. |

This song is about the time Raine and his friend were kids playing with a gun. Raine didn't know it was loaded and it went off. The song is set in the moment right after the gun went off and Raine doesn't know if his friend is ok. Hes waited for his next breath to tell him that hes ok and hes praying to God for help, although he never has before. |

The message behind the song is pretty obvious, but you probably didn't know that Raine wrote this song after having a dream that his father was in the hospital dying. In the dream, he didn't make it to the hospital in time to say I love you. So in the song he says if he doesn't make it, if it really happens, know that I've always loved you although we haven't really talked alot. |

The band met a small girl with a brain tumor in the hospital and she inspired them to write this song. Its about how they felt talking to the girl and how they tried to comfort a girl that was so young and couldn't really understand what was happening to hear. |
