Manchester Orchestra – Girl Harbor Lyrics | 6 years ago |
I always applied this to my situation at home with my religious mother. She would always put her beliefs before her relationship with us. We love each other very much but growing up it might as well been a wall between us. It was a tough thing to have your parents whom you trust very much tell you one thing, but you just know its not true. I ended up spending most of my childhood just following along to make them happy. "I don’t want to believe but I want to believe you, I don’t mean what I say but I say what I need to You waste so much time" The first time I heard this line I got shivers from my spine. My feelings perfectly explained. Isn't it great when you find an artist that can do this for you? Makes you feel not-so alone. "Desperate friends trying to reconcile the bends There is a name for men like you inside the dark And I know your faults, I know the way you write them off I don’t want anything to do with it no more" I relate this to how so many very perverted, malicious, and generally evil people use their christianity to justify hatred. On the outside looking in, the "who's more holy" pissing competition that goes on between the people in the church looks so silly, but they just don't see it that way. The whole "your last name is mine" thing is just a convenient irony I guess lol. NOTE: You can listen to this entire album in this theme and it all fits, Im not sure that its what he intended but in my opinion, the best poetry/music can fit anyone's life and be just what they need. |
30 Seconds to Mars – Stranger In a Strange Land Lyrics | 7 years ago |
I am new to this band but I think everyone is thinking too deeply here. I think it's just about a relationship that is going badly. I think Jared Leto is speaking about his being a ghost and not really totally willing to commit or be able to commit to the relationship. He speaks in other songs of being a ghost. I view a ghost as being someone who is an onlooker and can't actually involve it's self in the living world. That seems to be a recurring theme in his music. As if he is "looking in" but is unable to be a real part of any involvement or change in his personal life. Again, maybe I am missing the point here but it has been my experience that most songs aren't as deep as the artist would have you believe. |

Dropkick Murphys – The State of Massachusetts Lyrics | 7 years ago |
I am a mother in Massachusetts. Babies taken away, you don't realize the future, you can only live what you know from the past, abused from significant others, now my kids are left to pay .. my babies have been taking away |
Barenaked Ladies – Alcohol Lyrics | 7 years ago |
The song progresses just like addiction; initially you and those around you (those listening to the song) think it's all in good fun, but the minute you start “drinking just to get drunk", things start to slip. While you THINK you've chosen to “walk the fine line between self-control and self-abuse", the next thing you know you're “on the floor trying on [someone's] camisole", begging forgiveness, and masking self-hatred instead of actually striving for positive change. I don't think it's at all pro-moderation, more pointing out how easy it is to think you've got it under control (you think you're being moderate), but in reality disaster is imminent. |
Counting Crows – Miller's Angels Lyrics | 21 years ago |
There is more to this song than what has been posted. At the end he says: Can't you hear me cause I'm screaming I did not go outside yesterday Don't wake me please don't wake me cause I was dreaming and I might just stay inside again today I don't go out much these days yes sometimes I stay inside all day Won't you leave me alone This is the best part of the whole song! But it's so sad. |
Counting Crows – Baby, I'm A Big Star Now Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Yea he does! This song is so cool. I especially like it towrds the end Lay me down in the circle Where the spotlight shines Turn your back back on the people Who draw the line Put your faith in the answers That you can find Hit the Ground hard running down That highway line Say a prayer for the ones You have left behind Amazing |
Ryan Adams – Goodnight, Hollywood Blvd. Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I love this song. Ryan's voice is amazing as always and the music is lovely. Everything just goes so perfectly together. |
Ryan Adams – Enemy Fire Lyrics | 21 years ago |
To me it's about a girl who was a bitch to him and he's not gonna tolerate the crap she puts him through, so he's leaving her. |
Ryan Adams – The Rescue Blues Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Ths song is reminescent of Elton John. It just sounds like something from his older days. |
Ryan Adams – Wild Flowers Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I absolutely love this song. It's so beautiful. This song means so much to me and I can relate to it so much. I love when he says "sleep now and your angels will come" - "Sleep now and Jesus will come" Friggin awesome |
Coldplay – A Whisper Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Why are there only two posts here? This song is beautiful. It has a different sound from the rest of thier music. Though I do believe that a couple lyrics are wrong here. Such as, "Night turns to day, And I still can't go back to you." Im pretty sure he says, "Night turns to day, and I still get no answers." Awsome song. Colplay rocks and always will. |
Coldplay – Green Eyes Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is simply amazing. It describes perfectly this little situation I'm in. There is this girl at my school who I've liked ever since the first time I met her at the start of the school year(She's has the most amazing green eyes too). But soon enough I found out that she had a b/f. And I've tried to forget about her and stuff but the year's almost over and it seems like I'm beginning to like her more. And it's just torure. I've told her how I felt about her and stuff but I guess that didn't help much. I'd forgotten about this song and recently listening to it, it goes along perfectly with what I'm dealing with. |
The Wallflowers – Three Marlenas Lyrics | 21 years ago |
"Man, I think I'm gonna buy myself a Rolls Maybe a Chevrolet One where I can pull that top down Just let my radio play Now I'm headin' out on that highway I'm goin' right out of state Now I ain't lookin' back until I'm gone Right through heaven's gates" Reminds me of the end of James Dean's life. "Riding through Heaven's gates is when he's dead." Its just reminiscent of that. |
The Wallflowers – One Headlight Lyrics | 21 years ago |
On the Wallflowers site Jakob clearly states that the song was not about a girl who died. |
Counting Crows – Walkaways Lyrics | 21 years ago |
It's about 1 night stands |
Coldplay – Amsterdam Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song, to me, is about a guy who is waiting for this girl who is not ready for a relationship. And he's waiting and waiting for her to make a decision, and the wait is tearing him apart. And I think he saying that if she keeps him waiting any longer he's going to explode. And maybe in the end she finally decides to be with him. And saves him before he self destructs. |
Pearl Jam – Bugs Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Um...I though it was about Pearl Jam's record company trying to control the band or something. Probably wrong though. |
Counting Crows – Miller's Angels Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Sad, but beautiful |
Counting Crows – Chelsea Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Actually, this song is the last track on the first "Across A Wire" CD. It's a 2 disc CD. The song isn't on the back of the CD case or anything but it's there. This song is great! |
Counting Crows – Sullivan Street Lyrics | 22 years ago |
"My last girlfriend, for the first month and a half that we were going out, her mother was living with her, and her mother's very Catholic. We couldn't spend the night together, so I was constantly making these drives in the middle of the night -- very surreal, four in the morning, falling asleep. I really believed in the relationship, but when I was writing this song the lyrics came out: 'Pretty soon I won't come around'. It wasn't what I wanted -- I didn't want it to end -- but there it was. It's about the inevitability of leaving." - Adam Duritz |
Counting Crows – Goodnight LA Lyrics | 22 years ago |
"I can't sleep very well. I mean you must have noticed this in songs before, but I'm up all night a lot. And this is about this one particular time when I'd been up for about two days. And it was coming on dawn one morning and I was thinking about shit." - Adam Duritz |
