I love the line 'Lord have his grilled cheese', it seems to pop up in a lot of Sublime songs. LIke the version of "Don't push" on second hand smoke and on "Dj's " from 40 oz. to freedom . It's funny. Sublime rocks. |

i heard this song was all about the ways things were with Courtney Love. I think that it's really the shits that she won't let this song be released on the boxset the other 2 members of Nirvana want to release. But she will let her boyfriend do all the work for her to release a compilation of Kurt's journals. It makes me mad. |

I love the Peppers and i totally agree with what everyone is saying about californacation is all about Hollywood and the problems with society. But I was wondering if anyone else thought it had a bit more to do with Kurt Cobain than that 1 line. Now I don't think the whole thing is about him but just more than that 1 line. My reasons for thinking this are because of the line that says" to break the spell of aging, celebrity skin is this your chin." b/c celebrity skin is the name of a song by Hole, Courtney Love's band. I also think that Courtney and Kurt were contrasts in the Hollywood life. She loved the limos, the fame, everything. I remember reading somewhere that she once bought a lexus and he was so embarassed to own it, that he mad her return it. I also think the line " marry me girl and be my fairy to the world." has to do with them also because Kurt fell in love with her so hard in the beginning, and if you follow the lyrics after it , it all seems to tye in. I know a lot of ppl may not agree with this statement b/c of the drug use but I believe he was pure and she was well Satan and i think part of the song reflects on that. Anyways maybe i'm just reading too much into it because i love Kurt and I'm not the fondest of Courtney. |

I agree with I love liana , it was never the bands name. they did have a lot of names but it was never that. but anyways i jsut love kurt and i love this song and i always listen to it when i'm sick cause it makes me feel better knowing that i could still cough on Kurt. I know i'm gonna sound car-azy for writng that but i don't care. i love kurt . and I love SNL too , so I 'm down with the JAck Handey quote. |

i think this song is about his love for a girl that was from the wrong side of the tracks. He loves her and wants to be with her but, he can't deal with this othr side of her anymore. Hence the title" Hey Hey what can I do."I think she is a prostitute. THis is proven when he is talking about everyone else being with the one they love while he is walking the streets looking for his "street corner girl". And it's also proven when he sings the line " my little lover does a midnight shift." Then he talks about his worried mind and having to shae what he thought was his and how he's leaving her . And he keeps saying that she son't be true, I don't know either way , i love this tune. It's definetely one of my favorites and it amkes me wonder if Robert Plant really did date a hooker. I love how romantic most of Led Zeppelin's songs are when u actually read the lyrics. What a ladie's man. |

i think that everyone mostly has it right about him being a player and u get this from the lines " raised by my dad girl of the day" which basically shows his dad taught him to play the ladies and he 's met this girl and he feel in love with her and she desperately loves him backl but in tha end he jsut can't break the mold of being a player , it's all he knows- which is proven in the line "feelings are burning" which shows he can't stya tied down. So instead of breaking his player pattern , his breaks the girl. I don't know, maybe i got that completely wrong, But it was worth a shot. |
