Oh My God, I flipped out when i found out John did a version of this song. Toad the Wet Sprocket is one of my absolute favorite bands and this songs is sssooo great. It is a really sad song but I caught something abotu suicide in there too--"looked outside at the car in the drive and the suitcase on the backseat inside, sure its so she cant look out behind at the road"--if she cant see the road, then shes more likely to crash...i think its interesting that its something subtle like that. she wasnt planning to drive off a cliff. the blinded vision would look a lot more accidental |

To me this song goes out to all the "good kids" who still make mistakes sometimes cuz they arent perfect. Usually, the guy/girl is a good person, but they still managed to screw up the night before and now they're beating themselves up about it. Sometimes life just doesnt let up. The character in the song still knows that they are a good person which almost makes it worse. It says "for all the things I've left behing, Im posative that im not blind" meaning that they have taken the higher roads at times. they arent blind to the difference between right and wrong. good song about human nature |

i absoluptly love this song, i wish more people would talk about toad...anyway...this song reminds me of me in so many relationships...the song is about this girl whos waiting to find a guy to come into her life, it doesnt even matter who he is. shed take anyone. the girl puts her heart and soul into the guy cuz shes just longing for some sort of relationship. the thing is the guy, he just doesnt care. but the realationship wasnt meant to be in the first place. there was nothing she could do to keep him there. my favorite part is where it says, "get over regret, while you were sleeping with the angels he was under the bed and the more skin u shed the more the air in your throat would linger when you call him your friend" its saying, its over and stop beating yourself up for it, he had his faults too and the more you try to fool yourself, the more you're going to feel stupid saying you guys are still friends and are on good terms. let him go...LOVE THIS SONG |

I dont think its neccisarily about the apostle Paul, i think Paul could be a random person, I think the message of the song is more about seeing someone so strong in their faith when they have no proof, the writer is questioning his own faith saying, hey if this guy is all he says he is, then would he come back to earth again? |
