First, for the first two weeks of life, one can only see in black and white. Then red, and yellow come to be(In that order). Then one start to get greens, and purples. ^-Fact Next, as people have said, Maynard is not God, nor is anyone else. That would be idealizing. I recommend one should look into Nine Inch Nails's "Starfuckers Inc.". If one is too lazy, one can take the easy way out, and could check out the opinions for that song on this site. And how do we know Maynard is an Athiest, again? If I remeber correctly... "Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. A non-functioning mind is clinicaly dead. *Believe in nothing..." I believe one can find..something along thoes lines, in the liner-notes of AEnima. As it says here..."Believe in nothing...". Therefore he's not going to BELIEVE that there is not a God. As you can see, he's not holding himself down by any sort of limits. He like to keep an open-mind. Not believing in something. If he simply settled upon "I don't believe in God". Then it's over, he will foreverly stop thinking about that. "Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. It's about idealizing, the famous(Stars). "my god sits in the back of the limousine my god comes in a wrapper of cellophane my god pouts on the cover of the magazine my god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene" First, "My God" idealizing already, first two words of the song. Through out the song "My God" is referring to the Star. "my god sits in the back of the limousine". Showing "My God" is sitting in a limousine, showing they're famous. "my god comes in a wrapper of cellophane". Wraped in cellophane, show that their, God, is fake. "my god pouts on the cover of the magazine". Being famous, once again, they're always on the cover of the magazine, they always come first. "my god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene". Showing they are fucking shallow bitches simply trying to make a scene, to get noticed. Always doing it for the poplularity, nothing else. "i have arrived and this time you should believe the hype i listened to everyone now i know that everyone was right i'll be there for you as long as it works for me i play a game it's called insincerity" When he's talking about "I" here, he is talking about the shallow star(Himself? More on this later). "i have arrived and this time you should believe the hype". The star is here, and you SHOULD believe that the star is all powerful, knows everything, worship me, and only ME(Like God, see above). "i listened to everyone now i know that everyone was right". I listened to everyone, and found out that everyone was right, about being all powerful as a star. Like I am now, I am a star. "i'll be there for you as long as it works for me". I'll always be there for you, the star will always be there, as long as if works for them, thoes shallow selfish stars... Yeah, totally. And I think the end of the song... "if I could start again a million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way" I think he's talking about, now. Not the past. If he could start over, NOW, a million miles away(A fresh start) He would keep himself, he would find a way. Sort of like never giving up hope. After all this pain, I still would not like to start over. I would like to find a way through, by myself. It's like "The way out is through" "all I've undergone I will keep on underneath it all we feel so small the heavens fall but still we crawl all I've undergone I will keep on" And STILL we crawl, never losing hope... |

I think when he talks about... "and you could have it all my empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt" He's talking about his nothing, in his life he has an empire of something, that means something to him, yet it's something as insignificant as dirt. "I will let you down" when it says this he's talking about, how he will let you down, he lets everyone down, always, and he can't find another way, or a way out of it. And finally... "if I could start again a million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way" I think it's a postive view.. think about it... |

Humm...I dunno about that...But, sure...? I think it's just about him and his emotions... "I woke up today to find myself in the other place" (Meaning the place where he has been his whole life, alone, the...bad place?) "with a trail of my footprints from where I ran away " (The place he was "From where I ran away" is the good place, where the sun shines, if you will. He ran away, in fear of facing "good".) "it seems everything I've heard just might be true and you know me (well you think you do)" (Everyone telling me I'd run, may be true(Because I did, and do). You said I would, "and you know me". "(well you think you do)" You think you know me so well, and you don't even know who I am, or what I'm about.) "sometimes, I have everything- yet I wish I felt something" (Pretty much what it says. Sometimes, I have everything (material), yet I well nothing, inside (emotional).) "do you know how far this has gone? just how damaged have I become?" (Do you know how much pain I have experienced, gone through. Just how much do I have to go through, to let go, enjoy again.)
