Joni Mitchell – All I Want Lyrics
|
I think you guys are missing a very important element of this song. Yes, it's about happiness, and yes it's about "perfect" love, but it's about striving for both of those things in an unhappy, imperfect relationship.
It sounds like the relationship she is in is not how it used to be. They hurt each other, and she wants it to get back to how it used to be. She loves him so much that her "mind see-saws" but it's to the point that she feels that "I love you when I forget about me." She can only love him if she forgets how awful he makes her feel sometimes and vice versa.
She just wants it to be a happy, healthy relationship again. |

M.I.A. – Bucky Done Gun Lyrics
|
I think it's a mixture of a couple things.
A few lines seem political, like "I'll fight you just to get peace," which could definitely be about Iraq.
But a lot of it does seem to be about rough sex:
"Lucky I like feeling shit
My stamina can take it"
or
"Heavy weight wrestler
Fight me in your comforter"
What I like about these lyrics is that they can be interpreted in a few different ways. They could even be about an unhealthy relationship if you so choose to view it that way. I think the lines "Can I get control/Do you like me vulnerable?" illustrate that particular example. |

Metric – Soft Rock Star Lyrics

|
"Don't shine for swine" is right. "Don't shine before smiling" doesn't particularly make a lot of sense, but "don't shine for swine" does because it's like she's saying, don't make an effort for the people that don't deserve it.
These lyrics are spot on. |

I just think it's about love.. a great, happy love song. The masturbation theory's quite interesting though. |

This song's a throwaway. Something like "Look at us! We can sing in heavily-accented English!" |

Ity's "sleep tight, grim rite."
And "hurt me this free" should be "lead me to stray" |

Le Tigre – Hot Topic Lyrics

This one's pretty obvious, right? It's just about powerful women; women who have made a difference and who, the band hopes, will continue to do so. |

Sleater-Kinney – Youth Decay Lyrics
|
It's about bulimia. "Acid tooth"; "Am I rotting out?" describe the effects of the disorder. No one except her mother sees this as a problem; they think that it is in her head. With every doctor she sees, she feels herself slip away. They chip away at her, leaving her as good as dead. |

Why is it J'pourrai? There's no need for an apostrophe. 'Tis JE POURRAI. in any case, I've no idea why this is up here. Yay French, anyways. |

Sleater-Kinney – I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
To me, this song might be just a plea for fame. She wants to be as famous as Joey, or Thurston; she wants to be everyone's rock and roll fantasy. Either that or she wishes that she could be as famous as the boys--her gender limits her. |

Dave Navarro – Whore Lyrics

Dave was in a lot of pain when he wrote these words--in the midst of a divorce. So they're simple, yet heartbreaking. I'm glad he didn't release the Rhimorse album, though. |

Madonna – Erotica Lyrics

This is typical Madonna--the woman loves to push boundaries and create controversy. And she does it well.
As for the song meaning, I feel it's pretty self-explanatory. |

Kelly Osbourne – Papa Don't Preach Lyrics

I think she did a wonderful job on the cover.
As for her riding on her dad's coattails--well, of course she is. Do you think it would have been that easy for just anyone off the street to get a song out if their father wasn't famous?
Regardless, I think she has a great voice. |

X – Los Angeles Lyrics
|
The funny thing is, I'm not what would be described as a 'punk'. And I don't know everything about punk. But I also know pop when I hear it. Like music for what it is, but don't pretend it's something that it isn't. The way I see it, 'X' is timeless. I guess nothing else matters, but sometimes things aggravate me.
Anyways... I think the meaning of the song is quite obvious. It's about the superficiality of LA... "the days change at night, change in an instant" I believe is referring to how LA isn't always the epitomy of brightness and fame that it is made out to be--people can be fake; the city itself is fake. And it displays these changes suddenly, frequently. |

Default – Wasting My Time Lyrics
|
I think the song is about a relationship that's gone on for too long. They're holding on to something that once was. They used to be in love, but now their feelings have faded. And yet, they can't let go, they have to keep holding on. They don't know how to say goodbye.
I haven't listened to the whole album, but I think 'Deny' is a good song, although the acoustic version is much better than the album version. |

Weezer – Undone - The Sweater Song Lyrics

This song is hilarious. I don't think it has any meaning at all, it was perhaps just River writing an insane song and not expecting it to be popular. And look, it's taken off. |

Weezer – Buddy Holly Lyrics

I don't really think this song has any true secret meaning. I think it's about a relationship (platonic or romantic) between a woman and a man, and the man just continues to defend it (and her) no matter what other people say. It's just a fun song. And as for "don't look now, but I lost my shoe", I don't think that's has a meaning, it's just a crazy line. |

Our Lady Peace – Superman's Dead Lyrics
|
I also think that this song is about bullying. Some of the lines lead me to believe that it is about the bully, not the person who is being bullied. To me, "superman's dead" is the bully questioning him/herself. The bully was upholding a kind of bravado of emotional and physical strengh. His/her own personal idea of 'superman'. Then he/she realized that they weren't strong at all, instead they were the epitome of weak. Superman is dead, and they are empty. |

I lvoe this song, as trite as it is. I love the movie, so how could I not like the song? Ewan and Nicole's voices really complement eachother.
Babygirlov: haha... I think you just ruined the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it yet and stumbled upon this page. :p |

Nelly Furtado – ... On The Radio (Remember the Days) Lyrics
| 22 years ago
|
I think this song is directed to some who she was friends with before she became famous. "Green to yellow.." they were envious of her record deal and her talent, and then they got sick of seeing her. Maybe because every time they see her on TV, on a magazine cover, they're reminded of what could've been theirs, or who could've been their friend if they hadn't been so jealous. Just my interpretation. |

X – Los Angeles Lyrics

This is true punk. What the 'teenyboppers' are supporting is poppy-punk trying to disguise itself as 'hard core'. I have nothing against Sum 41 or Blink 182, just don't try and tell me that you're punk because you're Blink's #1 fan. |

Jane's Addiction – Jane Says Lyrics
|
I believe this song can be taken a lot more literally than some do interpret it. "I'm gonna' kick tomorrow..."
is just Jane (and Jane is a real person) trying to convince herself that she'll kick her heroin addiction. It's always supposed to start tomorrow, but it never does. Because as much as Jane wants to rid herself of her addiction, things are never that simple. Oh, and by the way, Jane is still alive. Drug-free. :) According to Casey Niccoli, Jane's good friend. |
