The Beatles – Birthday Lyrics

the song was written to be a simple, catchy hit played at birthdays and such. however, it was never released as a single (no songs on the white album were) so it never really reached the potential intended. i heard that on the weekly radio show "beatle brunch" on sunday mornings |

Bob Dylan – Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 Lyrics

the song is about how we all must take our lumps and that's ok.
"But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned"
"stoned" is a pun, as if he is saying, "don't worry about taking your lumps, we all go through it. so let's get high and stop worrying." |

The Beatles – All You Need Is Love Lyrics
| 22 years ago

in a time when the bands like the Rolling Stones were writing songs like Street Fighting Man and Paint it Black which were anti-vietnam songs (dont get me wrong, i think those songs are great), those songs merely stated the problem. The Beatles wrote this song which states the solution, all you need is love. This is just one reason why they are the greatest band ever. |

Hey, id just like to clarify that Rubber Soul was released in 1965, and Revolver was released in 1966. Rubber Soul was their first break away record, not Revolver. Oh, and this is a great song. |

watch the video, it really supports the idea about the parents. i think that the song is saying that kids might go through traumatic experiences such as a car crash, or being born with embarassing birthmarks, but the worst thing for a kid is to grow up feeling unloved by their parents. |

yes, i know angel hair is also a very thin pasta. but have you ever heard of anyone cutting themselves on pasta? cobain was referencing the fabric not the pasta you idiot. however, you are right about the baby's breath. to be cut by those things is ironic because they are symbollicly beautiful. that means that not all beautiful things are good. |

i agree with sierp. this song could also be about the duality of man, but i pulled that out of my ass.
by the way they have the first verse lyrics wrong, it should be:
my twenty thrown down in my fist of rage
and the man to my left just folded down
johnny doubled up with a royal flush
i had three jacks and a pair of nines
my mind is turning just two shots more
there's not much left to play
then dude walks in black hat on top, what a mop
im lucky it wasnt a county cop, cause im just running out of time

a truly good bad always tries something a little different with each album. look at the Beatles for example, they started out with all pop songs and soon evolved into a complex and unique band that has yet to be matched. weezer has proven they can write good pop songs with the green album and some of the blue, and they have proven they can write deep songs with pinkerton. kudos to them for that. |

guys, i just proposed a question open for debate, which is the point of this website, and all you can do is bitch and moan about whether or not they are sellouts or if they are true punk or not. if you dont have anything intelligent to say, then keep your opinions to yourself or go to a chat room |

angel hair is a plastic-like material used in crafts or something and it is very sharp. people have been known to cut themselves on it. I am not saying that is the literal reference, I am just saying that is what Kurt's metaphor is referencing. by the way, you guys seem to bitch a lot. keep it up, it is entertaining. |

Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics

hey, chew on this for a second. Think way back 11 years ago to the Nirvana days. On the Nevermind album, there was a little song called Come As You Are. Part of the lyrics say, "take your time, hurray up. The choice is yours, don't be late." Now look at the Blink182 lyrics to Adam's Song, "I took my time, I hurried up. The choice was mine I didn't think enough." Mark obviously had borrowed these lyrics from the late great Kurt Cobain. What is he saying here?...
