the song is about the bass player's mother (the bass player in the video link...i don't know if its the original guy or not).
It is a live video of Only in Dreams, and the bass player says "this song is for my mom, she's right over here, cause i love her" at 50 seconds. You can even see him pointing over. Maybe it's an inside joke or something...but worth knowing for all the weezer fans out there!

i see it more as this ( bear in mind its my opinion):
we all see ourselves in different ways...ways in which we would like people to see us but they don't always see us as that. you meet people, they all sort of see you as a joke and no matter how hard you try to do things to prove otherwise that you are something stronger and more meaningful...you just can't. story of my life perhaps..but its what i get out of the song. |

my favorite song by van halen by far...reminds me of when i was a child and had all these aspirations to do this and that and the time and friends all gone by. definitely going somewhere, and its cool cause the ride there is pretty interesting. hooray for being 20 years old i guess. |

i like that thought alimania, but I would say that I'll take it for the easiest thing, in a sense, and say that its about a girl. I believe Ed is married and I suppose it could be for his wife, or perhaps not, but I like to think of it as to someone you really really love. |

I totally agree with you on this Inviltrist, nothing like when the person who you would give all youve got stabs you through the face, and Type O Negative is definitely one of the greatest bands to grace the face of this earth. The line in this song " Are a thousand tears worth a single smile?" is absolutely amazing, because you can talk and talk and talk and try to get this person to see what your getting at, but in the end your just getting more and more frustrated while once in a while you get a smile, which i guess doesnt allow for the feeling inside of you to go away either. I LOVE THIS SONG. |
