| When I first heard the song, I thought of a little sister and a big brother. The lyric "Ruby I hope I see you, I've waited all this week" is saying to me that this brother has been waiting for his sister and finally, she has been born. Her room was painted pink as said in the lyrics. As the brother is praising his sister and her "Eyes" say, "Shada-de da dum" because baby's cannot speak words so I interpret this as musical baby sounds. By the time the lyric "tell our dad I'm sorry" comes along, the baby sister is dead. The older brother was left to watch his sister and something terrible happened that he couldn't control and she died. Her room turned red maybe saying that she died in her room. She an angel and being asked to tell "us" of the clouds. Now, the fact that the brother sounds like he's talking to Ruby might imply that the father is dead and it's only him and the mother. That part can be left up to you. | |
