Bear's Den – Think of England Lyrics 8 years ago
Feels like a song about an ex lover. We have an expression "Lie back and think of England" a phrase that mothers supposedly would give to daughters regarding their wedding night, but mostly meaning to fake wanting to have sex.

So he talks about her not acting like they did when they were together, losing all the bad habits he still has. A girl that has obviously moved on from him with no great difficulty and he suspects she didn't really want to by with him when they were together, despite what he thoughts were his best efforts to love her.

Bear's Den – Agape Lyrics 8 years ago
Feels to me like a typical love song where the singer has been dumped.

Agape, while meaning brotherly love, can just be about love and in this case of a girlfriend (could be boyfriend it is 2015...)

He doesn't want this love to die, he knows he messed up and that her words now hurt him, but its all he wants to hear. He is totally heartbroken.

The rest of the song kinda repeats this sentiment "how can i go on without you" "i'm scared" "tell me how to get over this"

Thankfully i've never had my heart broken, but i'm pretty sure this accurately portrays the emotions.

Bear's Den – Above the Clouds of Pompeii Lyrics 8 years ago
I had similar thoughts to the meaning as ^ tobiin but I believe it is in the perspective of the son not the father and he is singing to his father about the loss of his mother (the mans wife)

The clues being:

"You were a god in my eyes": Sing about his father as a strong role model
"Said just don't they look in peace"
"Sometimes I wish that was me": Following the loss of his wife he is now morose
"I was the son you always had": A change to rhyme something with sad to reinforce the point his father is morose but also to kinda confirm the one singing is the son not the father.

"You said stay in the car and wait"
"There's just some things I have to say"
"Don't you know I miss her, too"
"I miss her just as much as you"

Could be at the funeral or visiting the grave, father wants to be alone with his personal grief and the son doesn't seem to be fully aware of what has happened but is since saying she was my mother too, why did you block me out from your grief.

Ultimately it is about a son who was too young to love his mother like his father did but is trying to help his father move on and not dwell on the past.

Bear's Den – Magdalene Lyrics 8 years ago
I guess the song is about a boy who is in love and is writing to a girl who is housed in a Magdalene Asylum "institutions from the 18th to the late 20th centuries ostensibly to house "fallen women", a term used to imply female sexual promiscuity or work in prostitution" -wiki

Who I suspect was forced into prostitution and/or abused by someone and she suffers from depression.

He is frustrated as she shows genuine affection for him and loses some of her depression for lack of a better phrase while she is around him but when they are apart she must be implying she is suicidal.

He tries to help by telling someone at the Asylum "school in the lyrics" but she sadly pushes him away.

Sadly I believe the girl in the song does take her own life and this is a lament, but it could also be possible she was sectioned and not allowed to see him and he has no idea of her fate. Both pretty miserable suggestions for ultimately a very pretty song.
