@[DSzy:1793] And further, the position of the song in the album. A general theme in the album is the dichotomy between beauty and tragedy (hence the title of the album). And we start out with a general tragedy that nobody alive remembers and at the end of the album after the reference to the Newtown tragedy, it would make sense to focus on something that *everybody* alive will face.

I agree with untabubba - there's a lot of imagery about death here. A few plays on words (square to rights / last rites double meaning) and a lot of words that essentially be summing up a person's life. And some reflection of funeral practices, such as heart weighting, which I think is hinted at here.
