This is a song about the love of God. The line "Your unconditional love takes me to paradise" is a dead giveaway. Apart from that, there is a lot of paraphrasing of scripture: "you light the way in the dark... " "With you there's no disguise..." "Before you I was blind..." and so-on. The use of the word 'divine' is another hint at who he's speaking to here. The references to feeling so sweeeeeet are also parallel to the feeling of rapture referenced numerous times in the bible and are ubiquitous in Judeo-Christian literature. It doesn't take a zealot to admit that one loves God and has found peace with him. Even though I'm not a religious person, I think the song is more beautiful now that I find that it's about one's spiritual awakening. |
