Florence + the Machine – Blinding Lyrics 9 years ago
This song to me is about someone who was born an outsider. This person never felt like they fit in since the very beginning. A tourist in a waking world. Most people live in "reality". The ones who live in reality make her feel like she's living in a dream world. Hence why no kiss or gentle world could wake her. Reality is too harsh.

She wakes up and realizes that those who are living in reality are actually the ones sleeping. They are dead. Like when Jesus said, "let the dead bury the dead". The dead were trying to hold her under. You can't wake up until you realize that this world is dead. We are all slowly dying. Suddenly everything that seemed important, is no longer important. She's no longer dreaming, she's actually awake to the reality that is hidden from the eyes of most of the world. It's like The Matrix. She took the Red Pill. She's coming out of a place where she never felt alive or like she belonged. She knows the only way out is through her mind. Snow White doesn't belong in reality because she was created to live forever in her magical kingdom. What is real to her can never be real to us. Your consciousness lives on outside of the body. That's why she is no longer looking for a body in the garden. The garden is Earth. You can choose your own reality but you have to believe that there is life beyond this Earth. Otherwise, you remain stuck in the Matrix.

U2 – Every Breaking Wave Lyrics 9 years ago
This song is about falling and/or being in love and being afraid to lose and get hurt. Love is all about taking risks. You're either all in or you're not. It's all or nothing. So most people either hesitate or simply avoid it all together. Most people will get into relationships that feel safe rather than take a chance with the someone that has the power to either make them the happiest they will ever be but who also has an extreme amount of potential of completely destroying them. Saying "every dog knows" means it's overly obvious. There's no denying it. You know that this particular specific love interest is absolute and that this is the one person. Knowing this, makes it even scarier because you are certain that you do without a doubt love this person above all and everything else but the uncertainty lies in whether or not this person will hurt you or vice versa. Sadly, for most it's better to not take that risk. Better to save yourself now than be left with a bleeding wound that could possibly drown (kill) you.

Metric – Collect Call Lyrics 9 years ago
Being that I'm kinda going thru this right now... here's how I interpret this song. This is about a relationship with no passion and possibly no sexual chemistry. No heat. She feels cold and depressed. There's no spark.
The other party makes all the calls, calls the shots at her expense. Being that she's cold and he doesn't keep her warm.
In astrology this would be a classic Saturn square Venus.
He's in the relationship for the mere reason of just wanting and needing some security.
"I know its a lie, I want it to be true
The rest of the ride is riding on you
Over goodbyes we'll buy some place"
Deep down she longed for a stable and a secure relationship also but one full of passion. Obviously, that's not what she got. So she pretends, plays the part, goes thru the motions because she wants so bad the relationship she's always dreamed of. Being that there is no passion, she no longer has any drive. So the rest of this ride rides on her partner who seems to more passionate about possessing her than making her truly happy (keeping her warm). Notice we are happier in the summer than in the winter. Over goodbyes to their old lives, their old passions, and who they were before they met each other, they will purchase property together. Again, to ensure security. A security that's more important to him than to her. The door is wide open. There's really nothing holding them together. But from the lyrics, it's like he doesn't want to let her go. He somehow has a hold on her. It's like she's given up on life. She feels dead inside. No drive, no ambition. That's why she says if somebody's got soul, you gotta make them move. It means if there was any passion in this relationship, it would force her to move, she would take action, because she's got soul. She's a passionate person. Her drive would return if he would ignite her passion. She's a lazy dancer now because she has literally no drive because there's no passion. He's taken that from her, just so he can make the call, in other words, so he can have her, be close to her, and not lose her.
