My Chemical Romance – Blood Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song could have probably been about Gerard's feelings, but its got too much of a hospital context that I think its more about the patient's experience in the hospital than anything else.

"Well they encourage your complete cooperation
Send you roses when they think you need to smile"

I read this as the patient being put off by the saccharine tone of all the doctors and nurses around him as well as the lack of freedom he has in the hospital and,

"I can't control myself because I don't know how
And they love me for it honestly, I'll be here for a while"

he also feels like they're only treating him so nicely despite his odd or repellent behaviors possibly brought on by his PTSD(see: mama) because they know he's extremely sick and will likely not make it.

"So give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff
Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough
So give them blood, blood, blood
Grab a glass because there's going to be a flood"

"I gave you blood, blood, gallons of the stuff
I gave you all that you can drink and it has never been enough
I gave you blood, blood, blood
I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love"

These two verses also immediately made me think about the patient opening up about his normally closely guarded emotions to the nurses and other patients, and talking about his life to them, but he also finds it so draining he compares it to giving his own blood, and he's uncomfortable by how everyone won't leave him alone and assumes they love him because of the way he'd lay his proverbial heart out on the table for them to mentally pick apart at their own discretion, leaving him vulnerable.

"A celebrated man amongst the gurneys
They can fix me proper with a bit of luck
The doctors and the nurses they adore me so
But it's really quite alarming ‘cause I'm such an awful fuck (why thank you)"

The first line probably refers to how upon learning that the patient was a soldier(see: mama), the other people at the hospital developed respect for him, and the second line is just about his cancer.
The third and fourth line is still about the patient expressing his self loathing and not quite understanding why they give him the time of day when his own family probably never did.

Poor guy has some issues!
