Maybe it's just because someone in my house has been watching the HBO series 'Band of Brothers' but this song makes me think of soldiers in a war. After a couple of listens, my interpretation is this song is about sour grapes. "If you weren't so stupid, I could have loved you And if you weren't so stupid But you're pretty stupid And if you weren't so busy, I could have loved you But you work in an office And you've got other offers" >>However he knows her, it isn't through work, and he's tried to hint that he wants to be more than friends with her, but she hasn't caught on, hence her being "stupid." "Tell me, what is his name now? What is his name? I'm excited to hear the news Tell me, what is his name now? What does it say about you?" >>He's always listening to her talk about her boyfriends, and faking his enthusiasm (or hoping she catches his sarcasm). "But let's not Be friends Or else this will never end Let's not Be friends for sure For sure" >>He doesn't want to stay where they are in their relationship forever.
