At the Gates – Blinded By Fear Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[Smootches:293] Came here for the 'We are blind' intro spoken sample. I just got it, and I have been listening to them for over a decade. I really connected with the music and the lyrics and imagery, but now I get that specific part about 'worlds within us', is that we are powerful beings, only we inhibited for some reason. Thanks. |

@[aCrowdisUntruth:292] You sound like reasonable guy. perhaps it is more about the power that we do have, and the anger and frustration is coming from the fact that our creativity is stifled by our ability to manipulate each other. |

It is death metal, as it deals with such subject matter as death and very much has to do with suicide. Although, there is a religious element to the music, and thus it does have some black metal to it, and I think they may have been the first progressive death metal band. |

God damn. You just made my day. Another human being recognizing the global biosphere, and taking responsibility. Wow. |
Necessary Response – Vapor Lyrics | 9 years ago |
A while back, I listened to this song a lot, no matter how painful it was. Still reminds me of someone. "You won't be forgotten". Uhg.... |

Wumpscut – Perdition Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Amazing how many times in history this has happened. The people at the top have to justify their bloated empire, so they called themselves divine, and send you peasants off to fight each other, over resources. It still happens today. How many people does it make sense to have living in the desert? How long will we continue to propagate their population with fiat currency? Can you foresee the consequences soon enough before your family or friends are suffering as well? One planet, one biosphere, one human race. Thanks. |
Phantogram – Bill Murray Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I love this song so much. They are amazing. Is it just trendy now to have your fav actors name as a song? M83 - Steve McQueen? Just seems like a song that is in light of being lonely, but it's not because there not a good person, sometimes that's just how it is, so you have to be strong. Life is tough, make good decisions. |

When I was 13 years old, I was a punk rocker, and I had black or bleached hair, and my older sister used to play this song. :) |

Pig – Save Me Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Prayer to Saint Michael "Blessed Michael, Archangel, defend us in the hour of conflict; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God restrain him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust, down to hell, Satan, and with him the other wicked spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen." |
Tool – Pushit Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Definitely an abusive relationship. Just remember you can get out. He did. Even if you are the victim here, you probably need to or should take responsibility for enabling the abuser. Sometimes doing the right thing is extremely painful, walking away from an abusive relationship is the right thing to do. Life is painful. The end is the best part "Saw that gap again today As you were begging me to stay. Managed to push myself away, And you, as well. If, when I say I may fade like a sigh if I stay, You minimize my movement anyway, I must persuade you another way. There's no love in fear. Staring down the hole again. Hands upon my back again. Survival is my only friend. Terrified of what may come. Just remember I will always love you, Even as I tear your fucking throat away. But it will end no other way." |
Nine Inch Nails – Echoplex Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I see the idea of the character from YZ being institutionalized, or the idea that a person in the public eye is having other people force their perception of him on him, and there are undertones of that, but this song is about moving on. It reminds me of letting somethings go, or letting someone go. The broken pieces, or him picking himself up and rebuilding his life. |
Nine Inch Nails – Various Methods of Escape Lyrics | 9 years ago |
You cant edit or delete so here is what I meant. "It doesn't really matter anymore Yes it doesn't mean a thing" < This is how he feels sometimes. "An effigy so wondrous to behold Statements so profound A place to bury everything I did And burn it to the ground" "A fire illuminates the final scene The past repeats itself I cannot tell the difference anymore I cannot trust myself" < < Now he remembers his mission, but now it is with a sense of responsibility and duty, because he screwed up in the past. |

This is my favorite song on this album. Trent is so fucking awesome. To me this song has nothing to do with drugs and that's just for tools. "Hallucinate in high fidelity The pieces of a plan Construction of the highest quality The blood from my own hand" /\ This is describing his creative process\/ "A line of lyric looping in my head The body listening "It doesn't really matter anymore Yes it doesn't mean a thing" "I've gotta let go I've gotta get straight Why'd you have to make it so hard? Let me get away" He knows what he has to do, but that doesn't make it any easier. He knows he fucked up in the past, and forgot his mission. "An effigy so wondrous to behold Statements so profound A place to bury everything I did And burn it to the ground" "A fire illuminates the final scene The past repeats itself I cannot tell the difference anymore I cannot trust myself" "I think I could lose myself in here" < He really just loves doing what he does, making music Thanks :) |
Nine Inch Nails – Head Down Lyrics | 9 years ago |
At first I thought this song was about having an existential crisis, or split personality, but recently it means something else to me. The slip really shows Trent growing up and changing, and even though he felt strongly about things when he was younger, there is more maturity now, which I am really get into now that I am getting older too. Whowouldathunkit. This song is about the responsibility that comes with being either famous, rich, or powerful. When he was younger, he didn't understand this, neither did I. We all want the big easy. gravy train, but that's not how it is. When you are successful, other people think they owe you something, or if you're in the public eye, then people think they know you, who don't, and that is where it gets existential, maybe he even began questioning who he is, although I think it really has to have to do with his 'status', which is why you get huge celeb break downs, because they don't know wtf is going on. So here's his advice man, keep your head down, (Although it's too late for Trent). Thanks |

Is that what you were doing when you were 14? I used to read Piers Anthony and listen to Bauhaus as a teenager, so whatever. Hah! I love this song! |
Tool – Stinkfist Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Hey man, I am glad you are getting the bigger picture, but as a result of those societal issues, our relationships and sex have suffered. Trickle down effect. AmIright? |
Tool – Stinkfist Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I think this song is purely about desensitization. I really like this part. "Something kinda sad about The way that things have come to be. Desensitized to everything. What became of subtlety? How can it mean anything to me If I really don't feel anything at all?" I like to take it a lot more broad and think more than whats on the surface. To me this song isn't just about sex, but someone who can't control their desires, like a kid, might also indulge themselves in other harmful activity as well, like heroin. It's just really sad to someone continue to repeat this behavior and get really messed up in shitty situations. Maybe on an even bigger scale, its about how our society and culture on a whole is getting more desensitized as well. "Choose compassion over fear", is a really great quote from one of my hero's. To me it means that life is painful, but you can't hide from that, with drugs or sex, you have to face it and help the people in the right ways. Thanks. |

Phantogram – When I'm Small Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song seems to me to be coming from someone who is extremely depressed and is thinking about being dead. Lucy is underground cause she is dead but at least she's got a mouse to feed. "Am I still alive Or has the light gone black Take me underground Take me all the way" When your that depressed you don't even realise your alive, and keep thinking about dying "Bring me to the fire Throw me in the flames" Also typical behavior to take that depressed anger and frustration out on the people around you who actually care or perhaps that's where the depression is coming from but it's probably self fulfilling, which is what I make of the last part. "So show me love You've got your hands on the button now Sure enough You've got your hands on the button now I'd rather die I'd rather die Than to be with you" Thanks |
