I think that a lot of this song is a reference to The Great Gatsby. Everything from the swimming pool, to the crashing chandelier, to the obsession with the girl's past. Although the song is clearly not only about Gatsby, Brian seems to be drawing some heavy parallels. |

Queen Anne's Lace is sometimes also called wild carrot, which makes me think that this is a reference to the lore behind queen anne's lace: that the red dot often found in the center of the flower appeared when Queen Anne was executed. If this is what the song is talking about, it might be a foreshadowing of the rest of the album and Anne Frank's death. |
