Vienna Teng – My Medea Lyrics 10 years ago
Combining three comments from this thread actually makes sense, but I end up with a few possible interpretations, depending on whether or not Medea and the child are the same or two different persons and on which one is good and bad. However, the big lines stays more or less the same in all possible interpretations.

We know Medea is a voice or personality in her mind that doesn't always have her best interests in mind. That same voice/person might have pushed her into a part of the software business she didn't want to be in. (The software business can actually emotionally destroy people if they are in the wrong place)

As for the maze, this obviously serves to keep Medea in and other people out or the other way around, depending on whether Medea or Vienna is the child and who is imprisoning who.
I tend to think it serves as a purpose for keeping Medea at bay, because "the wild wind across the stone" could be Medea trying to find a way towards the child "as the daylight falls" (when Vienna tries to sleep).

It seems like Medea is Vienna's “dark” (or light) side which has a passion (love) for something that burns so much energy that she's draining herself dry in doing so. (This could be writing code, but also something else). At the same time it's also that same passion she must fear and contain, because it sucks her dry and it hurts her to do so.

It is also possible the 3rd and 4th couplets have a second meaning. She might also be trying to protect the person she loves from the part of her that is Medea, because Medea will suck that person dry.

The 5th couplet describes that she has no idea on what to do with Medea, because she receives a curse for every time she “gives in” to Medea and that she definitely doesn't want to become the person Medea wants her to be.

The 6th couplet states that she can't go on obeying both persons and that one of them must die for what it has done to another, because she can only see what she's begun, by destroying that same entity.

Vienna Teng – The Hymn of Acxiom Lyrics 10 years ago
I think this song is about socail media, datingsites, datamining and the big data we all post on all kinds of websites. I think this because Acxiom is the name of a very big online marketing company.

"The hymn" might be a reference to how all of us surrender our data to big corporations which have bevome like allknowing beings, that posses every part of our lives by now.
It might also be a reference to recent scientific research showing that the brain centers involved with religon are also activated when we are thinking about certain devices (smartphones).

The endlessly upward world correspondes to facebook or twitter timelines, which are endlessly extending upwards. This is supported by the "(reach in your pocket) embrace you for all you’re worth" line, which points to smartphones.

The last three lines point to the questions about whether or not using personal data is ethical and whether or not people want this to happen.
