Avenged Sevenfold – Roman Sky Lyrics | 7 years ago |
This song is about a Roman theologian (I forget his name) from the 1600s. He proposed ideas way beyond his time about space and science. The Catholic church did what it does best and put him to death, deeming him a heretic. "Shared with us the world well before your time Though they took your voice, words forever shine." This is in reference to this man's ideologies that turned out to be correct, ("Forever shine") yet he wasn't able to share his knowledge and move humanity forward. "As they spoke your fate, a fearless man replied, 'As you will sentence me, your fear is beyond mine.'" This is a paraphrase of what the man said as he was killed, which can be interpreted in two ways. It could mean even though he was the dying man, the ones living should be more scared to be living in a world where knowledge is banned from existence. It could also be a mockery; "your power is so thin you're scared of anyone smarter than you because you know I'm right." Either way the song is extremely powerful and epic. |

I know this isn't the actual meaning of the song, but I imagine it to be about death. The references to flight can be imagined as the crossing over into the afterlife. As the narrator looks down upon Earth from the afterlife, he realizes how miniscule our Earthly problems really are. Lyric by lyric each line seems to be referencing both an astronaut going into space or dying. I don't think this double meaning is intentional but it is definitely interesting to see the parallel between these two ideas. |
Avenged Sevenfold – Fermi Paradox Lyrics | 7 years ago |
The Fermi Paradox states that given the vastness of the universe, even if there is an extremely small chance of any given planet being habitable, there still is a huge number of habitable planets. If even a small percentage of these planets are more advanced than us, it seems extremely likely that there is extraterrestrial life, and slightly less likely yet still very probable that said life would either try to reach us or at least be discovered by us. This song is basically about that paradox (Hence the name). The many repetitions of the word alone are testament to that, however some lines are still unclear to myself as to what exactly they mean or how they are related to this paradox if they even are. |
Foo Fighters – The Deepest Blues Are Black Lyrics | 10 years ago |
The lyrics are wrong. Shame on me Seducing everyone You faded jewel You diamond in the rough You don't have to tell me I know where youve been Shining once again Will you do The thing youve always done Tell me true I think you know the one One that makes me blurry Colours start to run Every time I wonder I kill wonder The deeper the blues The more i see black The sweeter the blues The feeling starts coming back All the deepest blues are black Now my mind is spinning And my head is growing numb Right from the beginning Our ending had begun I can be your trouble Sugar, envy you Shaking like the thunder Sinking under When it comes closing in Reject Cause i gotta move And the simple things Didnt need the openings Connect Become something new So remote I skipped the chorus |
