Marilyn Manson – Red Black and Blue Lyrics 3 years ago
This is a tricky and interesting song to interpret. "Am I garbage or God"- In other words, Manson is wondering if he is inferior or superior. I think a lot of us ask ourselves this question. Am I amazing or am I a piece of shit? It just depends how you look at yourself, and if you look at the positive or negative in yourself. It's an internal struggle. Maybe Manson has his moments where he feels really confident, and other times when he feels insecure. Even the god himself can feel insecure, yes.

As for "I'm red, black, blue," I was thinking in terms of red, white and blue, the colors of the flag, of America. Instead of white, it's black, it's the oppose of white.

He could be blue as in sad, or he could be red (covered in blood and scars), black and blue as in bruises. So this could be a political, religious, or love/heartbreak/post breakup song. As for the idea that he has bruises, well maybe he was in an abusive relationship. Not going to name names, but I have heard some things on both sides.

New Years Day – Angel Eyes Lyrics 7 years ago
I have a couple interpretations of this song. The first one is that two people are in lust with each other, and it's really powerful. The girl is telling the guy to take her heart, so there could be something more there. As for his darkness, it may just be a sexual dark side.

My other interpretation is that the girl is giving the guy her heart, and he just wants to use her for sex because he's evil, considering his "darkness". I think I'm going with my first interpretation though.

The reason why the girl thinks she should run away could be because the guy is bad, or it could be because she would be cheating on someone with him.

Marilyn Manson – Birds of Hell Awaiting Lyrics 9 years ago
I believe this song is about dying and going to hell, but then again, Manson doesn't believe in heaven or hell, so he wrote the song as if hell were real, and someone (maybe himself) wishes to die or he thinks it's their time to die.

Marilyn Manson – Slave Only Dreams To be King Lyrics 9 years ago
"Slave never dreams to be free,
Slave only dreams to be King"
Don't work for your dreams to be free. Work for your dreams to be King. Sounds like a Martin Luther King Jr. Reference.

Marilyn Manson – Deep Six Lyrics 9 years ago
"you wanna know what Zeus said to Narcissus," you'd better watch yourself" refers to Greek mythology. When Narcissus looked at his reflection in the water, he fell in love with himself, so he went into the water and drowned. This is where the term, narcissist/narcissism comes from.

Marilyn Manson – Killing Strangers Lyrics 9 years ago
A few things come to mind when attempting to understand this song. I used to assume that people were referring to themselves in songs, and later found out that a lot of songs are satirical. Now we could assume that Marilyn Manson is killing strangers, but we know better than that. He might be referring to war, killing people in other countries, so they don't kill the people we love in our country. Maybe it's the murderers that we are killing, so they don't kill our loved ones. Perhaps Marilyn Manson is thinking about how one would kill strangers instead of their loved ones, to release their anger and aggression without paying the price of losing someone they love, but maybe just hate at times.

Otep – Confrontation Lyrics 10 years ago
I agree that the anti-war songs in the rock scene may be over done, but it's like vampire or zombie movies, they're over done, but if you're interested in the topic, you don't get tired of it.
