We Are The Fallen – Sleep Well, My Angel Lyrics 10 years ago
I actually feel this is a mother speaking to her dead son/daughter. Most likely from a drug overdose or some other bad road.

"Watching you sleep for so long, knowing that I can't turn the rain into sun anymore"
---As a child, her mother could make her child smile, but now they grew up and made mistakes that hurt and the mother wishes she could 'turn the rain into sun'.

"I've given you all that I am. Now I stand here too scared to hold your hand. Afraid you might wake to see the monster that had to leave"
---She taught her young as best she could, but in the end, the child falls down a bad road and the mother is slightly scared of her child becoming a monster because of the choices they made.

"Cause you see the shelter as the storm. Holding wind to keep you warm. You are everything to me. This is why I have to leave. So sleep well, my angel"
---I can empathize with this part. 'you see the shelter as the storm'....when you get to a certain age, you hate your parents. You want to get the hell out of their house and go out on your own...but in the end, family is always there for you when nothing else is. We start to see family as the problem, but eventually start to realize that IS the true shelter. As for the rest of the chorus, Parents know they have to let their children go(this is why I have t leave)...and even sometimes let them make those mistakes to help them learn. Even though it hurts the mother to watch her child suffer.

"Under the ash of the lies. Something beautiful once here now dies. And the tears burn my eyes. As you sit there all alone. I just want to come home."
---The mother admitting to herself that her child lied and slowly lost their innocence (something beautiful once here now dies). The mother now showing her loss of composure at the funeral. 'as you sit there all alone' in that coffin. She just wants her little innocent baby back.

"I'm sorry"
--One of the smallest but most important lines. Parents have to let their kid go and learn about life through mistakes. But the mother never wanted this. She wanted to stop her child from going further down this road, even though the child saw the shelter as the storm. The mother's last wish is for her angel to sleep well, away from the dark road they fell into.

Kinda long, but I love this song and it makes me think of how I always saw my parents as the storm. Now I truly realize family is everything you ever need.

Gary Jules – Mad World (Tears for Fears cover) Lyrics 10 years ago
So everyone pretty much knows the meaning of this song, but here's my in depth synopsis:

"All around me are familiar faces
worn out places-worn out faces."
One concept: repetition. It's the same thing day in an day out. Seeing the same faces at work, the same places.

"Bright and early for their daily races
going nowhere-going nowhere."
Waking up early to go to school or work. And for what? To get a better job, to make money to pay for a house that you go back to every single day. Not really getting anywhere.

"Their tears are filling up their glasses
no expression-no expression."
Although the 'no expression' kinda points toward the glasses being the ones you wear, I have something a little different. Their tears are filling up literal glasses of water. Then drinking their own tears. Being that we get into this state of mind, become depressed, then get over it (drink the tears) and accept it. Then going back to the concept of repetition, getting sad again and filling our glasses with tears.

"Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow-no tomorrow."
Wanting to lock yourself away in your room and never come out, hide away from the world. Wishing there would be no tomorrow.

"I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had."
It's weird and funny, yet frightening and sad how numb to life you realize you are. That you're not really suicidal, but you don't find the point in existing. You dream of death and it's kind of enjoyable and you love those dreams.

"I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles, it's a very very
Mad world, mad world."
It's hard to talk to people about this because they'll just say 'oh you're not right in the head, here's some medication.' or 'go see a doctor.' It's not an easy feeling to have, it's 'hard to take,' just like it's 'hard to tell you.' Then going back to repetition. Running in circles, getting nowhere day in and day out.

"Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday-happy birthday.
Only feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen-sit and listen."
This is my favorite verse because as I grow older, I realize that everything is losing it's luster. Birthdays that used to be so much fun and full of friends and a party eventually just become another day, kinda like Christmas. It's still a good time to spend with family...but it's just not as enjoyable as when I was a kid. That;s when we have all this curiosity and energy, but we're constantly told to repress that and 'sit and listen.' Then we get older and have the freedom to finally explore...but no curiosity a when we were kids.

Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me-no one knew me."
Going to school as a child, it's scary but we make friends easily. Then we grow up and we're in college. We keep to ourselves as we come to this state of mind that there's no point in existence.

"Hello teacher, tell me what's my lesson?
Look right through me-look right through me."
Nevertheless, we still want to learn. Maybe learn something that will change this dark, yet reluctantly enjoyable mind set. But the teacher 'looks right through us." We feel as though we're just another student, nothing special. then we realize no one's special.

Then of course, the chorus again.

Overall, we all know this is just about finding no point in existing. Whether suicidal or not, we have these dreams that makes death seem so enjoyable. It's a dark song but I love it, it perfectly describes myself. It's a frightening feeling, but somehow we kind of enjoy it in a way that can't be explained.

There's my personal in depth explanation :) GREAT song!

Avenged Sevenfold – Second Heartbeat Lyrics 10 years ago
This is my favorite song off this album! The beginning, I can totally picture being their first song playing live. Everyone in the arena are talking, waiting for them to come on, suddenly, this song starts and everyone starts screaming as the curtain slowly rises...matches perfectly!

Rise Against – Injection Lyrics 10 years ago
So other than drugs, my interpretation is a little more personal. See, I lived under a religious dictatorship for 19 years, that being my parents. So when I finally went to college, not 4 days after leaving home, I get this tattoo (which was a big deal cause both sides of my family including my parents are extremely Mormon). It's Rise Against's insignia on my left peck (because Rise Against is my favorite band and belong close to my heart) with "pull this plug, let me breathe" curving above the sign, and "on my own, I'm finally free" curving on the bottom.

So pretty much just having a religion (or whatever it is for you, personally) shoved down your throat your whole life, "counting the hours you're awake" waiting to leave. Waiting for them to pull this plug and let you friggin breathe haha. Then "this grip looses, but it never breaks," even away from home, they still try to drop hints about going to church or this and that.

I love my parents, I do. I'm not some spoiled little kid who thinks he had it sooo bad, but this song has that meaning for me and can be interpreted to other things of this nature. Such as having a parent that wants you to take over the family business or makes you go into this major, etc.

Avenged Sevenfold – Burn It Down Lyrics 10 years ago
Ok so first off, this is my FAVORITE song by them! My thoughts on it are that he's talking to someone who uses people to get where he wants to go in life. Such as "hatred fuels my blood" and "You're on my back when the water gets too deep for you to breathe." And "One king to watch the horsemen fall" being that he feels self empowered and doesn't care who he utilizes like a king uses horsmen to do his dirty work.
