The Beatles – Across the Universe Lyrics 10 years ago
Jai Guru Deva Om means Praise the Heavenly Teacher and Om is the sound of the universal vibration often used commonly in transcendental meditation

this song is genius, he is comparing his mind and soul to the universe and basically telling us that they are the same thing. We are the Universe, we are One with everything, nothings gonna change my world because everything is set in its right place, and that is what God is, every aspect of life and creation, we are God, we are the Universe

Arcade Fire – Afterlife Lyrics 10 years ago
To me this song is referring to an "afterlife" as a post break up song, if you really love someone, then it's never really over which alludes to another song on this album "It's Never Over", you might fight and say bad things to people you love but you can always come back to that resolution with a loved one that everything will turn out alright. When love is gone where does it go? It doesn't go anywhere, love can not be destroyed, too many passionate memories can't just turn to dust, love doesn't work like that. Brilliant song

Radiohead – Like Spinning Plates Lyrics 10 years ago
i dont think radiohead writes about politics at all but the true nature of humanity and the ego a lot, politics have nothing to do with it, this song to me is about cycles, radiohead is much more spiritual then political

MGMT – Astro-Mancy Lyrics 10 years ago
This song in my open opinion is about Andrew Vanwyngarden and maybe experiences and realizations he's had with astral projecting and out of body experiences, it's cool to think that he's gone so far out in his mind. He could be astral projecting and talking to spirits in this world and coming back into his body and writing songs about it. Apparently through astral projection you can cross astral planes, leave this world, go to space, go anywhere as a soul. I only say this because I don't think Ben has anything to do with the lyrics but more so the sound and the music. They haven't really been as camera friendly, interview wise since this new album was released, like they used to be, because I think if people asked them what they were writing about, the boys would have no similarities to share, no one in the media would understand, but their real fans understand perfectly. These two guys are evolving their consciousness in ways no one can describe and that is what this whole self-titled album is saying

MGMT – Cool Song No. 2 Lyrics 10 years ago
I believe this song to be about some very deepening psychedelic manners, like everything, literally everything is in a constant form of contradiction, for example the meaning in the symbolism of the yin and yang. Andrew has definitely had some life altering experiences happen to him since Congratulations, this is a very transcendental song, reminds a lot of Jim Morrison and the Doors and it brings me to the conclusion that this song is basically about the Unknown and all the things in front of our faces that we have not analytically broken down yet and come to realize. Andrew Vanwyngarden has definitely broken through some barrier and raised his consciousness to completely new levels, I think he's getting information from other worldly manifestations and writing songs about it, I could always be wrong though. MGMT is a hell of a band but I think only "weirdos" can really understand some of the subjects they talk about in their songs

MGMT – Alien Days Lyrics 10 years ago
I always thought this song was fantastic but then one day I really looked into the meaning of what Alien Days really means and I just fantasize about myself laying in a field looking up at the night sky at the stars and thinking about the whole universe around me and how experiences have changed me, loosing ego, realizing that I don't even feel human sometimes and questioning where some of my mind bended thoughts are coming from, there's so much for me to still take in, your awareness can go beyond any limit, there are no boundaries, the universe and your mind are infinite

MGMT – Mystery Disease Lyrics 10 years ago
There are seven verses in this song and each verse represents one of the seven deadly sins, the seven sins of the ego, the mystery disease
