Modest Mouse – Steam Engenius Lyrics

How come all the people who were so quick to submit their half assed ear interpreted lyrics after the leak are so damn slow at updating them with the real lyrics? It's quite annoying, basically every new Modest Mouse song on here has glaring errors as a result of these slow updating assholes. |

Modest Mouse – People as Places as People Lyrics

I don't see why this song hasn't gotten more attention thus far, it is easily one of the best on the new album. I like Jeremiah Green's snare work on it too! You are the places I wanted to go I think is meant in a romantic sense. I may be wrong, considering that is not Isaac's trademark, but I believe it may actually be correct in this instance. |

Modest Mouse – We've Got Everything Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
Well for the most technologically advanced society with pretty much any knowledge we want at our fingertips -- how do a majority of Americans spend their time? I'd say some sort of variation of this Gary character. We may think we have everything, but what do we make of it? A sort of a Doin' The Cockroach theme runs through this song. |

Like our only sense of comfort is saying, well it wasnt as bad as...such and such, kind of a sarcastic optimism I'd say. |

Actually relapser I think it might be might as well toast. Though either would be cool. Anyways...
I really like the imagery of the sun moving to the east and west horizon as a traffic light. Pretty unique and brilliant. We stop and we go, our lives that is. The sun sets - red light, the sun rises- green, and we begin again on our journey. And I dont think its necessarily optimistic at all, more a kind of meaninglessness. I really don't think this song is nearly as optimistic as many of the haters want to believe. It seems rather existential to me. |

Modest Mouse – Spitting Venom Lyrics

I actually think the last line might be cheer up baby it always wasn't quite so bad for every
venom then that came out the antidote was half and not had, which changes the connotation of the song quite a bit. |

Modest Mouse – Florida Lyrics

Hey I think there is a mistake in the lyrics. I believe the line is "even exiled to florida" instead of "even as I left florida." Which would seem to make this song possibly about the retirement theme which seems to make sense in the context of this album because Florida is where old people go to die, and death is a major focus of this album. |

I'm quite sure there are many mistakes in these lyrics. Don't know the correct ones yet, but don't put too much stock in what is up here. |

I still think its of part and parcel, because A. I hear it and B. thats a common saying and C of parting parcel its probably been said is awkward phrasing. Thats my take |

Modest Mouse – People as Places as People Lyrics

I think this song is Isaac Brock's confrontation of his restlessness. As he's expressed in many of his past lyrics, Isaac is always on the go, a new destination, a new place (gotta gotta gotta move, where do you move when what you're moving from is yourself?). This song seems like a new step in that process. Isaac seems a bit more content with himself here, and he realizes that he was searching for himself and not for something outside in all the new places and new people. He then makes it into a universal by saying we are the places we want to go. There is also a hint of a romantic in him when he you are the places I wanted to go. So I think it can be taken on that level as well. |

its definately of part and parcel and that continues on with the theme first expressed in parting of the sensory. We are made with dead parts (we steal the carbon of dead things). Thus, we are literally already dead because we have stolen our organic material from dead things. The spoken word funk part has many typos too the first one that sticks out to me is the first line where Gary was tired and drunk and not on trial. |

Modest Mouse – March Into the Sea Lyrics

This song is about the human condition. The Sea is death. We are pulled from the sea and given life and we are on a lifelong march back to the sea (death). One of my favorites on the new album. |

Modest Mouse don't do political, they do universal. I'd bet anything that the said boss is God.
Here's a quote from a drunken Isaac Brock:
How many political idealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
Answer: Political Idealists can't change shit. |

The music is great...but am I actually a bit disappointed in the lyric quality of this song. I cant help but feel that modest mouse can do better. Cheer up baby it wasnt always quite so bad for every venom that came out the antidote was had? Come on this is not vintage mouse. |

Modest Mouse – Little Motel Lyrics

I'm pretty sure that in this song what we are waiting for is not love but it is instead death. We are with our lover waiting to miss him/her. I think Isaac likes to play around with this, writing something that can conventionally be taken in another way but really inverting it and making it negative (see the lyrics to Gravity Rides Everything as another example of this, also a song about death). |

Nojoyinthis is quite correct. There are a few mistakes in this song, as in most of the lyrics I've seen from the new album thus far. I wish I knew how to correct them, I only know how to submit a new lyric. |

This truly may be the best song ever written, ever. It is my coffee in the morning. The breakdown part that comes after the 4 snare hits is the most intense, energetic moment I have ever heard in any music, anywhere. It is an energy that inspires me as a drummer. |

One of the best songs off the new album. One of the best songs modest mouse has ever done. Carbon - Carbon dating. I don't want to take the time to explain it right now, but the lyrics are really ingenius. |
