One of my favourite songs ever, and I've just listened to it for the first time in years. Yes, I think it's a 'love song', but I sense some bitterness in the way he sings, the tone, the overall feeling of the song. Perhaps he does love her but perhaps she's making him feel guilty for leaving all the time "...the look that you gave me..." Maybe they had a fight before he left on the plane, maybe there's tension everytime she sees him off at the airport. But all is definitely not perfect. |
