Recalling experiencing this song, I can say what it means. It, in my opinion, means that he was trying very hard to be with the girl he wanted, who had suffered physically as much as he had emotionally. He "was running in circles", round and round to find a way to her hurt and untrusting heart, but then that became a ephermal addiction, and he sought her heart as "his purpose" to live. He must've found a way to find her, but then something might have happened. (i.e., another guy got to her first, the girl died, etc.) He felt terrible and very very VERY depressed, as his many efforts had turned in vain. He wasn't sure to say if everything would be okay, but this is now in the past.

I might have appreciated this song more a little around the time I flirted a lot with this guy I really liked, and he just kept teasing me and pushing me away, and telling others I was a bitch and ugly when I was absent from school. But look who took it with pride? Yeap, me. Feels much better being over him than in love with him.

In my opinion, this song is about her beginning to like her first love again, and she doesn't want to accept it, by explaining to him she wants to move on in her life. She's also telling him that she's "too tired", possibly of his attempts to win her back again. She's telling him to forgive her, as she feels bad about leaving him sad and heartbroken, but she really needs to move on. Personally, the exact same situation happened to me. But I just ignored him until he pretty much felt defeated. I still want him as a friend though!

A couple months ago, I had this huge crush on this cool guy at school. After the last day of school, I found out he liked me back, but he thought I was weird. Believe it or not, I got super-mega-ultra-trimately depressed, and cried over him for two weeks in a row before sleeping. Then, when I wanted to get over him, I heard this on the radio, even though it's old, and I decided to become independent, and not let my heart get broken so easily another time. Katy Perry rules. End of story.

To me, I'm pretty sure this means like the joy a crush brought to her, because he was like a close friend to her, but she was too shy to confess to him, because she didn't want to break the friendship. And in the end, they were never more than that. This reminds me of how happy I used to be around my crushes. They were so kind and gentle and sweet. I dedicate this to them, even if they'll never know.
