The Lumineers – Ophelia Lyrics 8 years ago
@[sunshinepills:10069] I think the abortion idea is kind of a stretch. Those references could be about a number of things. But who knows? I guess everyone can interpret a song in many ways.

Wow, great song.

I think it's basically saying that you can't live your life trying to obtain things out of greed or treat others badly just to reach success, because in the end we all still die and what we leave behind should be something positive, not negative. Praying wont help you, only you can help yourself and by straying from yourself (or the stem) you leave out love and all the essentials (leaves) which will result in an unhappy life.

The Lumineers – Stubborn Love Lyrics 10 years ago
This is such a beautiful song about loving someone despite their flaws, because let's face it! We all have flaws and true love involves acceptance. The singer here is saying they've made it through so much already that he can't be told that their relationship wont work, because he plans on trying his best to make it work through to the very end. He's telling his lover to keep her head up and don't give up on their relationship because they can make it through anything :)

The Civil Wars – The One That Got Away Lyrics 10 years ago
Wow this song is absolutely fantastic. The chorus is so passionate!

This song is very relatable, obviously about someone stuck in a relationship that was going so well, but somewhere along the way things went wrong and now they are committed to each other and there is a lot of bitterness and resentment.

Sounds like a song about a love that has ended. The singer chose to go his own path in life which didn't include the girl and while he remembers her fondly and misses what their relationship and her company gave him, he lives for the moment and is trying to find himself and move on. Sometimes people just have to go their separate ways and its nobody's fault.

Of course he adds the part about maybe marrying her in some other time. I like that section because it's very real and honest. I bet most people think about the "what ifs" regarding past relationships and wondering if they made the right choice to end things.

This song really hits a chord with me. I feel like everyone has been there or will be in a situation like this at some point in their lives.
