Panic! at the Disco – Hallelujah Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song is simply about accepting yourself, no matter how bad or 'sinful' you might be or what you've done in the past.
Acceptance means not just being comfortable with yourself, but also being able to face the fact that you've made mistakes and you need to fix them and make up for them.
Brendan said it's about "taking responsibility for things that you felt guilty for in the past and just owning it because now that’s a piece of you, and you can’t get rid of that history". It sums up the song pretty well- being able to stand up and say 'Hallelujah" despite everything that's happened because you still have a chance to change yourself.

@[Oli12:2741] Agreed! This song is the epitome of that whole 'friendzone' trend. I don't know if it's about Ellie or not, but the subject of the song doesn't owe or promise anything- the singer just assumes they deserve a relationship with them.
Nice tune, awful subject.

Coldplay – Charlie Brown Lyrics 9 years ago
It's about a strong feeling of happiness that nobody can quench. The singer is being manipulated, used, broken and left behind (When they smashed my heart into smithereens) and still being able to rise up because you are you, and that's the greatest thing you can possibly be (Be a bright red rose come bursting the concrete).

As for the title- Charlie Brown is seriously tough. He has to deal with all kinds of things on his life, and still comes back strong. Charlie was always meant to be someone we can connect with, since we all know failure just as well as success. Just like we can relate to this song, full of both of those things.

Ben Howard – Keep Your Head Up Lyrics 9 years ago
It seems to be about getting over a very dark time in your life and reaching a state of not just acceptance, but happiness. I always think depression, but that's probably just my experiences talking.

"I spent my time, watching
The spaces that have grown between us.
And I cut my mind on second best,
Oh the scars that come with the greenness.
And I gave my eyes to the boredom,
Still the seabed wouldn't let me in.
And I try my best to embrace the darkness
In which I swim."

In verse one, our singer is reminiscing on a time they felt very negative, looking only at how bleak things were. There seems to be a focus on people close to them and how they felt like they were growing apart. "The spaces that have grown between us." They felt the bleakness taking over them, but can't fight it. "I tried my best to embrace the darkness", but it just won't work.

"Now walking back, down this mountain,
The strength of a turnin' tide.
Oh the wind so soft, and my skin,
Yeah the sun so hot upon my side.
Oh lookin' out at this happiness
I searched for between the sheets,
Oh feelin' blind, I realize,
All I was searchin' for, was me.
Oh oh-oh, all I was searchin' for was me."

Back to the present, a time when they've recovered. The"mountain" represents the height of their sadness, and they can walk down from it now that it's over. Now, they feel almost overwhelmed with happiness and can feel every little sensation. The sun, the air, the wind. They understand that the stages of sadness they went through was just a search for themself that they've finally reached.

"Oh yeah, keep your head up, keep your heart strong.
No, no, no, no, keep your mind set, keep your hair long.
Oh my, my darlin', keep your head up, keep your heart strong.
Na, oh, no, no, keep your mind set in your ways.
Keep your heart strong."

The chorus is a chant full of hope, telling you to push on through dark times and, well, keep your head up. It's also telling you not to get bogged down and stay as you are- "keep your mind set in your ways".

"Now I saw a friend of mine, the other day,
And he told me that my eyes were gleamin'.
Oh I said I'd been away, and he knew...
Oh he knew the depths I was meanin'.
And it felt so good to see his face,
All the comfort invested in my soul,
Oh to feel the warmth, of his smile,
When he said, 'I'm happy to have you home.'
Oh oh-oh, I'm happy to have you home."

This is clearly a very close, concerns friend of the singer. Even he can sense the euphoria the singer is feeling, telling them their eyes are "gleaming". They can completely understand that their journey to recovery is complete, and the singer can share those feelings with them. The friend is just glad they're better now- "happy to have you home".

"'Cause I'll always remember you the same.
Oh eyes like wildflowers, oh with your demons of change."

This can either be an actual person who caused the singer hardships or a personification of the singer's bad times. Either way, that thing will always be in their memory, but it's something they can learn from and move on from.

Really beautiful song, Ben Howard has a lot of talent!

Imagine Dragons – Radioactive Lyrics 10 years ago
I think it's literally about some kind of apocalypse- the world being completely messed up and a group of people who want to stop it.

I'm waking up to ash and dust,
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust,
I'm breathing in, the chemicals.
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out on the prison bus.
This is it, the apocalypse, whoa.

I think that's about someone who's begun the another day in an apocalyptic world, but they know that today's going to be different because they'll be staging a major uprising.

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones.
Enough to make my systems blow.
Welcome to the new age, to the new age.
Welcome to the new age, to the new age.
Whoa, whoa, radioactive, radioactive.
Whoa, whoa, radioactive, radioactive.

The chorus is about the person feeling like the uprising will be successful and bring in a whole new age. They're feeling psyched up and ready for it to happen.

I raise my flags, don my clothes,
It's a revolution I suppose.
We'll paint it red, to fit right in, whoa.
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out on the prison bus.
This is it, the apocalypse, whoa.

This part is about preparing for the revolution. The third line in particular points out how brutal this world is- red, the colour of blood, is perfectly common.

All systems go, sun hasn't died.
Deep in my bones, straight from inside.

These lines seem to be about a victory- they've won and have achieved exactly what they needed to.

The only issue is the 'seventeen years' part at the beginning. Prim was thirteen when she died, if I'm not mistaken.

Coldplay – Talk Lyrics 11 years ago
I think of it as a description of how talking and letting your feelings out to people can help you when you're having problems. The songs sounds to me like two people talking to each other, one comforting the other. Although it says 'Oh, brother' twice in the first verse, the two people in question aren't necessarily brothers, maybe just really good friends who are as close as brothers. :-D
