Led Zeppelin – No Quarter Lyrics | 22 years ago |
yeah, but in that part of the story, there wasn't any snow. It doesn't completely fit. |
The Beatles – While My Guitar Gently Weeps Lyrics | 22 years ago |
interesting trivia... the strage guitar sound on the album is a guitar being played backwards. They recorded a guitar seperately from the rest of the song, and reversed the track to create the music for the song. Just shows how the beatles became a complete studio band... it's impossible to recreate the effect live. |
The Beatles – Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Funny song. Look at the reference to "Norwegian Wood". I think she had furniture made of fine Norwegian wood. When he woke up and she wasn't around, he was kinda pissed, so he set it on fire. "So I lit a fire, Isn’t it good? Norwegian wood" |
The Beatles – Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Lyrics | 22 years ago |
"this song is not about LSD. it's about a picture john's son brought home that he drew of his school friend lucy. it was lucy, in the sky, with diamonds. john didn't realize it was an acronym for LSD until *after* he wrote it" Heh. Sure. I believe that. These guys were known for BSing... I've seen some videotaped interviews them where some of the comments they made were just hysterical. That line is typical of Lennon's creations. This song is all about drugs. |
Aerosmith – Sweet Emotion Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I have a live version of the song where Stephen Tyler changes the last line of the song from "'Cause a month on the road and I'll be eatin' from your hand" to "'Cause a month on the road and I'll be cummin' in your hand". No lie. That's what I love about Aerosmith.... comic relief man... funny stuff. |
Butthole Surfers – Pepper Lyrics | 22 years ago |
shitty band, but cool song... just about living life to the max. |
Blur – Song 2 Lyrics | 22 years ago |
The lyrics don't do much for me, except the wo-hoo! part. This song just rocks, and it's fun to listen to. |
The Refreshments – Banditos Lyrics | 22 years ago |
"Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people" hehe, not the full message of the song, but that line is classic and the song has a permanent spot on my playlist. |
Aerosmith – Hangman Jury Lyrics | 22 years ago |
cool song... kinda has that old folk feel to it. He murdered someone and is trying to lie his way out of it in court. |
Aerosmith – Dude (Looks Like A Lady) Lyrics | 22 years ago |
He hooked up with a gender-bender thinking it was a woman. She "whiped out her gun", much to his surrpise. It's really quite funny how Aerosmith makes light of this kind of thing :). |
Aerosmith – Back In The Saddle Lyrics | 22 years ago |
hehe, the sexual references in this song are hilaerous. Aerosmith is the master of the double entendre |
Metallica – Through The Never Lyrics | 22 years ago |
"The Never" is space. It's an expression of how infinite the void is... "Time and space never ending" I think the following stanza solidifies this interpretation: "Gazing up to the breeze of the heavens On a quest, meaning, reason Came to be, how it begun All alone in the family of the sun Curiosity teasing everyone On hour home, third stone from the sun…Ye-ye-ye-yeah!!!" |
Metallica – No Leaf Clover Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Perfect. A couple years ago, when I first heard this song I was getting invovled with an ex-girlfriend. "Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel is just a freight train coming your way" That pretty much sums it up... it was almost propehtic. |
Creed – One Lyrics | 22 years ago |
It's mostly about racism and how screwed up our response to it is. "Affirmative may be justified take from one give to another" Affirmative action... which ends up taking from someone more qualified and giving to someone just b/c they're a minority. "The goal is to be unified take my hand be my brother" Right... but our current path won't unify us (Unity took a back seat sliding further in regression). "Society blind by color why hold down one to raise another " Obvious reference to racism... "Discrimination now on both sides seeds of hate blossom further" But now racism isn't just whites hating blacks, there's racism on all sides. "We may rise and fall, but in the end we meet our fate together" Increasing hatred is just going to hurt everyone in the end. |
Creed – Wash Away Those Years Lyrics | 22 years ago |
The message isn't religious, although some imagery definitely is. |
Creed – My Own Prison Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This song rocks. To the person wondering what it's all about... it's about a person trapped by their own mistakes (Created my own prison), their repentance ("alone i drop and kneel"), and realization that only Christ's sacrifice can help them escape. He's in prison, about to stand trial before God himself: "a court is in session, a verdict is in no appeal on the docket today just my own sin" He then sees Christ's sacrifice... "i hear a thunder in the distance see a vision of a cross" i feel the pain that was given on that sad day of loss "i hear a thunder in the distance see a vision of a cross i feel the pain that was given on that sad day of loss " Only Christ holds the key to his prison and death: "a lion roars in the darkness only he holds the key" The lion is Christ. Christ defeated death and only he possesses the key. "i cry out to god seeking only his decision" Crying out to God; seeking forgiveness and release. "gabriel stands and confirms ive created my own prison" Gabriel is one of the highest angels, often a messenger of God. He confirms what the speaker most feared... that he has created an inescapable prison. The song ends before the speaker finds his release... perhaps he is still searching. |
Creed – Higher Lyrics | 22 years ago |
It's about taking the dream of Heaven and making it a reality on earth... "Up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine". |
Creed – Beautiful Lyrics | 22 years ago |
>>the part i can't explain is the last three verses. << Here's my explanation, probably not right, but humorous :). >>She told me where I'm going << She said go to hell. >>And it's far away from home<< Obviously. >>I think I'll go there on my own<< He says no thanks, I don't need your help... Anyway, you guys are mostly right. It's just about how beauty betrays us... we seek something beautiful (usually women), but beauty is an empty shell... a trap. If beauty is what you want, she'll burn you. |
Sarah McLachlan – Possession Lyrics | 22 years ago |
It's about a stalker she had. It's sung from his perspective. Fits perfectly when you look at it from that point of view. |
Blues Traveler – The Mountains Win Again Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I would say just the force of nature.. that which you cannot control. Relationships seem to collapse and end in pain, regardless of what you do... it just seems to be a power greater than him toying with him. The end of the song displays hope though... despite the rough hand he has been dealt at times, he will get back up and try again. |
Blues Traveler – Hook Lyrics | 22 years ago |
He's singing about the BS and manufactured music that seems to get so popular. >>What you're doing to me this MTV is not for free It's so PC it's killing me << MTV is representative of the state of modern music... >>I've tried well no in fact I lied Could be financial suicide but I've got too much pride inside To hide or slide << He's going to sing about what's on his mind, regardless of whether or not it's popular or if it makes money. >>I'll do as I'll decide and let it ride until I've died And only then shall I abide this tide Of catchy little tunes Of hip three minute ditties<< That's talking about the BS pop music... the catchy little tunes... garbage like NSync and Brittney (for modern examples). The hook... the establishment... the record companies, etc have you addicted, hooked, and just reel you in... you'll buy whatever crap they feed you, whether or not it's any good. The song is pretty much all about alternative music. Anicid pretty much had it. |
Led Zeppelin – Ramble On Lyrics | 22 years ago |
yeah, there's definite references to Tolkein, but I'm not convinced it's about the hobbit... at least not entirely. Who's the woman gollum slipped away with? Certainly not the ring, Bilbo has that. The hobbit references don't fully explain it... perhaps they are there to add meaning, but I don't think that's what the song is about. |
U2 – Unchained Melody (Righteous Brothers cover) Lyrics | 22 years ago |
It's a cover. I believe hte original was by the "righteous brothers" (although that may be another cover version...). |
