The Residents – Birthday Boy Lyrics 9 years ago
I think most of The Residents' lyrics were made up of surrealistic techniques or just plain nonsense, there's really nothing in them. The thing with this type of lyrics is that most of the time you end up psychologically projecting yourself to find a meaning within the words. And although it may not be the intended meaning by the author, I think we can all agree that we somehow identify through projection.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Red Right Hand Lyrics 11 years ago
Well, I think Mr. Cave helps us with the intepretation of this song in the opener for Murder Ballads. 'Song of Joy' talks about the murder of a family, alluding to a man with a red right hand: 'In my house he wrote: "his red right hand" / That, I'm told is from Paradise Lost'

So yes, this song is possibly about an impersonation of Satan, as it has been mentioned in other comments. Seeing that this is a recurring character, I'd probably say that this man with a red right hand is Cave's lust for murder, his murderous self, for that matter. Sorry if this has been said before, but I haven't read through the 7 pages of comments :)

Leonard Cohen – The Stranger Song Lyrics 11 years ago
This has been already said, but I think this song is about people who are strangers wherever they are, people who just don't belong anywhere and are constantly on the move, waiting for something or nothing.

It reminds me of a poem called 'The Men Who Don't Fit In', which says: "If they just went straight they might go far; / They are strong and brave and true; / But they're always tired of the things that are / And they want the strange and new."

Beautiful song, anyway.

Tame Impala – Why Won't They Talk to Me? Lyrics 11 years ago
What strikes me the most about this song is Kevin Parker's sincerity, he basically speaks for all the so-called "loners" in the world when he sings these lines. It's great that he pops out of his shell to sing these and many other great words to whoever wants to hear it without ever ceasing to sound alone and tired.

I find it great that he seems to find a way out by admitting that he really doesn't care about it anyway. It's true, once you get to talk to people you find out that it really is better not being involved with them. "They just talk about themselves all day", that has to be one of the most striking lines when it comes to describing human relationships and the whole Internet-era that we are all involved in.

I get what he's saying, and the fact that I made an account on this site to write this is a good proof of that. Why would I join this site if it wasn't for the need of sharing an opinion that otherwise I would have no way of expressing?

This is a beautiful album/band that has changed me in many ways.

Tame Impala – Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control Lyrics 11 years ago
I think that's a good shot at what this song's about.

Personally, I think it could also deal with falling in love. Now, if you mix those two interpretations, maybe what Kevin Parker is trying to say is that falling in love might be somewhat close to going crazy.

"We would make it easy we would take / it slowly only if we could". At least that's how I see love, a whirlwind sometimes way out of our control that makes us fly out of ourselves.

I also think it's interesting how it seems like the song plays in a circle, since the first and last stanza are pretty much the same. That adds a lot of sense to the song as a whole.
